Solving problems in the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project - Nha Trang Sub-project

On the afternoon of April 11, Mr. Le Huu Hoang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee worked with senior leaders of the World Bank on the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project - Nha Trang Sub-project. Ms. Mariam J. Sherman - World Bank Country Director for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos and specialized directors of the World Bank attended.

According to the report of the Provincial Development Project Management Board, up to now, the project has basically completed the following items: Northern wastewater treatment plant, wastewater collection and transmission sewers, pumping stations, etc. The action plan after the project is also coordinated by relevant units with the World Bank to implement to ensure compliance with the commitment between the Provincial People's Committee and the World Bank.

World Bank representatives discussed further issues of compensation, resettlement, and ensuring the lives of people affected by the project, and requested the project management board to speed up the progress of items and components that are behind schedule.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Huu Hoang requested departments, branches, the Provincial Development Project Management Board, Nha Trang City People's Committee, and the Provincial Land Fund Development Center to speed up the progress of resolving difficulties and promptly approve the remaining adjusted and supplemented compensation plans to pay the people. Any problems beyond the authority must be promptly reported to the Provincial People's Committee for guidance and direction to resolve in order to speed up the project's site clearance, while still ensuring compliance with legal regulations and the province's commitments to the World Bank.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Huu Hoang also agreed and proposed that the World Bank delegation agree to allow the Nha Trang City People's Committee, the Provincial Development Project Management Board, the Provincial Land Fund Development Center, and the People's Committees of communes and wards to make advance payments to households according to the approved compensation plans. In addition, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also proposed that the World Bank agree to support the province in implementing legal procedures for site clearance of the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project - Nha Trang Sub-project, as well as completing the Ngoc Hiep Resettlement Area Project.
