Implementing Project 1 "Resolving the shortage of residential land, housing, production land, and domestic water", under the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030, phase I: From 2021-2025 (abbreviated as National Target Program 1719), in recent years, Dak To district (Kon Tum) has deployed support for domestic water to each residential area, creating conditions for ethnic minorities in remote communes to access clean and hygienic water sources for use, contributing to improving the quality of life.
Poor ethnic minority households in Mang Ruong village, Van Lem commune, Dak To district are supported with domestic water tanks.
Dak To district currently has 6,552 ethnic minority households, accounting for 55.8% of the district's total population. Of these, 1,087 are poor households, accounting for 16.55% and 717 are near-poor households, accounting for 10.94% of the total number of ethnic minority households in the district. Implementing Project 1, National Target Program 1719, Dak To district People's Committee has directed specialized departments and People's Committees of communes and towns to review and grasp the domestic water needs of poor and near-poor households to support the right beneficiaries.
Mr. Sa Phuong - Vice Chairman of Dak To District People's Committee said: The review and statistics of beneficiaries are carried out in accordance with the regulations of Project 1, National Target Program 1719 and the instructions of the Ethnic Committee, Provincial Ethnic Committee. In which, the People's Committees of communes and towns direct the village chief to announce the policy content, organize the review, synthesis and classification, and make a list of beneficiaries registered for the decentralized domestic water support policy. At the same time, organize a public village meeting with representatives of leaders and professional staff of the People's Committee at the commune level, representatives of the Party cell and mass organizations of the village, and households in the village participating at least 2/3 of the households to get opinions on the results of the review of beneficiaries of the policy and invite representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at the commune level to supervise.

Thanks to the good work of screening the right beneficiaries, up to now, Dak To District People's Committee has approved and implemented support for domestic water tanks for 206 ethnic minority households, with a total cost of 618 million VND.
Ms. Y Te - Dak Manh 1 Village, Dak Ro Nga Commune, Dak To District said: Previously, the family used water from a well 100m away from the house, but there was no tank to store water. Every time we needed water, we had to use a machine to pump water up, which was very expensive in terms of electricity and laborious in carrying water into the house. But now, with the State's support for a domestic water tank, the family no longer has to struggle, and during droughts, they still have enough water to use for many days.
Along with supporting water tanks for ethnic minorities, Dak To district has built 03 centralized water projects, with more than 400 households benefiting. The total cost is more than 5.4 billion VND.
Mr. A Tun - Dak Mo Ham village, Po Ko commune, Dak To district shared: Since the construction of this centralized water supply project, the villagers no longer lack water for daily use. In the dry season, there is also water to use, clean water, guaranteed quality. In general, the villagers are very excited when the State pays attention to the lives of ethnic minorities.
The centralized domestic water supply project in Dak Mo Ham village, Po Ko commune, Dak To district, put into use, has solved the shortage of domestic water for 51 ethnic minority households.
Mr. Le Thanh Dung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Po Ko commune, Dak To district said: In April 2023, the district's Ethnic Affairs Department handed over the Dak Mo Ham village centralized domestic water project to the commune for management and the commune guided the village to establish a management and operation team for this project. Since then, this project has been operating very well, providing domestic water for 51 households, with over 240 people in the village using it stably. Thanks to that, the water shortage of the villagers has been solved every time the dry season comes.
The timely implementation of the domestic water support content under Project 1, National Target Program 1719 has created conditions for ethnic minorities in remote communes of Dak To district to access clean and hygienic water sources for use. At the same time, the district has promoted propaganda work, raising people's awareness in protecting the works to ensure that the works are operated effectively, ensuring clean water sources for the community.
Mr. Sa Phuong - Vice Chairman of Dak To District People's Committee said: In the coming time, the District People's Committee will continue to direct the District Ethnic Affairs Department to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of communes to organize inspections of poor households that are beneficiaries and need support for water tanks in communes in area III. If necessary, adjust the content of support to create a source of clean water for daily life by supporting the renovation and upgrading of unsanitary wells of households to achieve the goal of Project 1, which is that by 2025, over 90% of households will use clean water.
