On April 3, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a special statement stating: To express condolences to comrade Khamtay Siphandone and based on the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to mourn comrade Khamtay Siphandone according to the national mourning protocol for 2 days, from April 4 to 5, 2025.

During this time, agencies and offices nationwide and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad must fly flags at half-mast and wear mourning bands as prescribed; no public entertainment activities are organized.

According to the original plan, the Hung Vuong Cup Volleyball Tournament 2025 on April 4 will have the women's semi-final match between VTV Binh Dien Long An - Northeast Information Corps and the men's semi-final match between Border Defense - The Cong. On April 5, the men's third place match and the women's final will take place.

According to information obtained by Tuoi Tre , the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province and the organizing committee of the Hung Vuong Cup Volleyball Tournament decided not to organize competitions during the two days of national mourning. The matches on April 4 were postponed to April 6, and the matches on April 5 were postponed to April 7.

The third place match for women and the men's final and the closing ceremony will take place on April 8. Currently, LPBank Ninh Binh has won the first ticket to the women's final, while Ho Chi Minh City Police is the representative in the men's final.
