On the afternoon of February 22nd, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance announced the adjustment of gasoline and diesel prices, effective from 3 PM that day. Accordingly, gasoline prices decreased by 320 - 356 VND/liter.
Fuel prices decreased slightly in the price adjustment on February 22nd.
During this price adjustment period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance allocated 300 VND/kg to the fuel price stabilization fund for mazut; no allocation was made for E5RON 92 gasoline, RON 95 gasoline, diesel fuel, and kerosene; and no funds were disbursed from the fund for any petroleum products.
Accordingly, effective from 3 PM, the price of gasoline for E5RON 92 will not exceed 22,475 VND/liter, a decrease of 356 VND/liter compared to the current price. The price of RON 95 gasoline will not exceed 23,599 VND/liter, a decrease of 320 VND/liter.
Diesel fuel prices will not exceed 20,910 VND/liter, a decrease of 451 VND/liter. Kerosene prices will not exceed 20,921 VND/liter, a decrease of 300 VND/liter. Mazut prices will not exceed 15,929 VND/kg, an increase of 23 VND/kg.
Gasoline prices have fallen slightly.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance, the global oil market during this price adjustment period (February 15-21) was affected by factors such as: the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasting lower oil demand this year than previously predicted, and the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) slow interest rate cuts impacting the outlook for oil demand.
In addition, the US raising the value of the USD negatively impacted world oil prices, tensions in the Middle East showed no signs of easing, and conflicts in the Red Sea continued, affecting transportation activities… These factors have caused world oil prices to fluctuate in recent days, but the overall trend has been downward.
The proposed fuel price management plan continues to maintain a reasonable price difference between E5RON 92 bio-gasoline and RON 95 mineral gasoline to encourage the use of biofuels in accordance with the Government 's policy; ensuring a balance of interests among market participants, and supporting fuel businesses in maintaining and supplying the domestic market.
