On the morning of March 28, gasoline prices increased slightly, Brent crude oil increased 0.3% to 74.03 USD/barrel and US WTI oil increased 0.4% to 69.92 USD/barrel.
Oil prices have now risen about $5 a barrel from their lows earlier this month.
Market participants are weighing the risks of an escalation in the trade war, Reuters reported. US President Donald Trump announced on March 27 a plan to impose a 25% tariff on imported cars and light trucks, effective May 3. Two days earlier, Trump also imposed a new 25% tariff on potential buyers of Venezuelan crude oil.

Analysts say Venezuela's export discounts could be as high as 35 percent, and the country could halt production of up to 400,000 barrels per day, or more than half of its exports. Reuters has reported that India's Reliance Industries, which operates the world's largest refining complex, will stop importing Venezuelan oil in response to the tariffs.
Analysts say tariffs could slow demand.
Domestically, yesterday afternoon (March 27), the Ministry of Finance - Ministry of Industry and Trade simultaneously adjusted the domestic gasoline prices. Accordingly, the price of E5 RON92 gasoline increased by 337 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline increased by 337 VND/liter, kerosene increased by 406 VND/liter, diesel increased by 324 VND/liter. Only fuel oil decreased by 53 VND/kg.
In this management period, the joint ministries continue not to set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund.
After the upward adjustment, on the morning of March 28, the retail prices of popular petroleum products in the market in region 1 (near the port, near the warehouse, near the refinery...) according to the price list announced by Petrolimex are as follows: RON 95-V gasoline 20,800 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline 20,420 VND/liter, E5 RON92 gasoline 20,030 VND/liter, diesel oil 18,750 VND/liter, kerosene 18,520 VND/liter and mazut oil 19,220 VND/kg./.
