(Dan Tri) - During the adjustment period on February 6, gasoline prices moved in opposite directions. Specifically, E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by 50 VND/liter, RON 95 gasoline decreased by 80 VND/liter, and diesel oil decreased by 190 VND/liter.
On the afternoon of February 6, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade jointly announced changes to retail gasoline prices. The effective time is from 3:00 p.m. the same day.
The regulatory agency decided to increase the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline by VND50 per liter and decrease the price of RON 95 gasoline by VND80 per liter. After adjustment, the maximum retail price of E5 RON 92 gasoline is VND20,440 per liter and RON 95 gasoline is VND20,920 per liter.
Similarly, oil prices were adjusted down in this management period. Specifically, diesel oil decreased by 190 VND/liter to 19,050 VND/liter; kerosene decreased by 20 VND/liter to 19,410 VND/liter; fuel oil also decreased by 150 VND/kg to 17,350 VND/kg. The Joint Ministry still maintained not to draw from or spend from the price stabilization fund.
Thus, the domestic price of RON 95 gasoline has decreased for 3 consecutive sessions. Currently, the price of this fuel is still at the lowest level in more than 3 years, equivalent to June 2021. Since the beginning of the year, RON 95 gasoline has increased 3 times, decreased 3 times. Diesel oil has increased 4 times, decreased 2 times.
The room for the petroleum price stabilization fund of some key enterprises still recorded a large positive level because this fund has not been used in many recent management periods. The fund balance as of the end of the second quarter of 2024 was VND 6,061 billion, down VND 18 billion compared to the previous quarter and the fifth consecutive quarter of decrease. Compared to the end of 2023, this fund balance decreased by nearly VND 600 billion.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is seeking comments on a draft Circular detailing a number of articles of the new Decree on petroleum trading. The draft of the new Decree on petroleum trading to replace the current Decrees on petroleum trading is also being sought by the Government Office for comments from Government members.
According to the draft Circular, the Ministry of Industry and Trade does not announce world prices. Traders will base on the formula for calculating the costs constituting the price of gasoline and oil in the new Decree on gasoline and oil trading and this Circular to determine.
After adjusting the selling price of gasoline, the main traders and distributors of gasoline must announce the wholesale and retail prices of gasoline in the distribution system and notify the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade and the Market Management agency where the trader has a distribution system.
