On basic economy domestic flights, airlines are announcing fares lower than the maximum allowed.

According to the assessment of the leaders of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, airfares during the peak summer season have "cooled down" and the time when airfares are "hot" has not yet reached the ceiling price.

If passengers are willing to fly at night, the price will be cheaper than during the day. In June, the ticket price is equivalent to 13-80% of the maximum price on the flights.

When booking for further dates, airlines have lower fares available for passengers to choose from. In July, fares are equivalent to 20-70% of the maximum on flights.

For example, if you book a flight on Saturday (July 13), Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietnam Airlines has prices ranging from 1.1-1.7 million VND (equivalent to 31-48% of the maximum price as prescribed which is 3.4 million VND); Vietjet Air has prices ranging from 0.8-1.3 million VND (equivalent to 23.2-37.9% of the maximum price as prescribed).

In July, airline ticket prices are equivalent to 20 to 70% of the maximum on flights.

On the Hanoi-Da Nang route, Vietnam Airlines has prices ranging from 0.6-1.8 million VND (equivalent to 21-62% of the maximum price as regulated, which is 2.89 million VND); Vietravel Airlines has prices ranging from 0.6-1.4 million VND (equivalent to 20-47% of the maximum price as regulated).

On the Hanoi-Phu Quoc route, Vietnam Airlines announced prices ranging from 2.3-2.8 million VND (equivalent to 56.7-70% of the maximum price as regulated of 4 million VND); Vietjet Air has prices ranging from 1.2-1.8 million VND (equivalent to 30-45% of the maximum price as regulated).

From June 10, Vietjet Air will increase a series of night flights on many routes to meet travel demand during the peak summer season.

Flights depart within the time frame from 1 hour to about 2 hours 30 minutes, mainly focusing on tourist routes to and from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, Vinh, Nha Trang, Hai Phong, etc.

"Vietjet's night flight ticket prices will be lower than daytime flights to create more convenient travel options for people and tourists," said a representative of Vietjet.

Vietjet's night flights this time increased by nearly 46% compared to usual, equivalent to 3,100 night flights across the entire flight network.

This summer, Vietjet will provide a total of 1.4 million additional tickets, equivalent to an increase of nearly 35% in domestic supply capacity to serve tourists on domestic tourist routes.

The Ministry of Transport requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to propose solutions and policies to reduce prices for domestic air passenger transport services.

Regarding the international flight network, Vietjet doubled the flight frequency between Nha Trang and Busan (South Korea) to 14 round-trip flights per week, opened new routes Hanoi-Melbourne on June 3, Hanoi-Sydney from June 8 and increased the frequency on many international routes to serve the increased demand during the summer.

Vietnam Airlines operates and sells additional late-night flights after 9 p.m. every day on routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, etc. to provide more options for passengers in the context of reduced supply due to the impact of engine recall.

“With night and early morning flights, the supply of fares is still abundant on many routes and passengers can easily choose for themselves the itinerary with the most suitable price within their budget,” said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport issued a document requesting relevant units in the industry to strengthen state management and strictly control airfares.

The Ministry requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to propose solutions and policies to reduce domestic air passenger transport service prices based on the principle of harmonizing interests between the State, businesses and passengers.

"Airlines need to proactively implement plans to add more aircraft to increase capacity during peak periods and arrange night flights to meet passenger travel needs."

Leaders of the Ministry of Transport

In addition, coordinate with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, airlines, localities and travel companies to research and deploy package tourism products (combo) to diversify markets, products, service supply chains, reduce costs to meet the needs of the people and the economy.

The Ministry also requires Vietnamese airlines to strictly implement regulations on domestic air passenger transport service prices, declare prices, post prices, and publicize information on prices and ticket sales programs according to regulations. Information on the structure of fees in ticket prices must be complete, clear, and not confusing to passengers.

“Airlines should implement flexible fare ranges and continue to have preferential policies on domestic flights to suit the needs of people and major tourism and festival programs. Airlines should also proactively implement plans to add more aircraft to increase capacity during peak periods and arrange night flights to meet passenger travel needs,” the leader of the Ministry of Transport emphasized.

Faced with the large number of aircraft being temporarily grounded due to engine recalls, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued a directive on enhancing aviation safety measures in the context that airlines have optimized to increase aircraft usage time to maintain operations and meet the transportation needs of the aviation industry.
