Gold prices fall as investors lose money in stocks

Last night, the world gold price was only 3,060 USD/ounce due to profit-taking selling pressure. However, the world gold price later recovered slightly.

At the current price, converted according to the listed exchange rate at the bank, the world gold price is equivalent to 97 million VND/tael.

According to analysis, the world gold price fell sharply after reaching an all-time record, in addition to the reason that investors took profits according to the market rule of "selling when news comes out", but also because investors had to sell gold to cover stock losses.

Global stocks were in the red for two days after US President Donald Trump announced "reciprocal" tariffs.

The world's largest gold ETF, SPDR Gold Trust, took advantage of the falling gold price to net buy more than 4 tons of gold in yesterday's session.

Domestically, the selling price of SJC gold bars this afternoon fell from 102.2 million VND/tael to 101.5 million VND/tael, equivalent to a decrease of 700,000 VND/tael. The buying price decreased by 500,000 VND/tael, to 99 million VND/tael.

Meanwhile, the price of 9999 gold rings at SJC Company decreased by 600,000 VND/tael, to 101.4 million VND/tael. The buying price was 98.9 million VND/tael, down 500,000 VND/tael compared to the end of yesterday.

At PNJ Company, the selling price of SJC gold bars and gold rings both decreased by VND700,000/tael, to VND101.5 million/tael. The buying price of SJC gold bars was VND99 million/tael. Meanwhile, the buying price of gold rings was VND100,000/tael lower.

At Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, the price of 9999 gold rings decreased by 600,000 VND/tael, to 101.7 million VND/tael, while the buying price fell to 99.2 million VND/tael.

Compared to the converted world gold price, the domestic gold price is about 4.5 million VND/tael higher.

The difference between buying and selling gold prices is very large, in some places up to 2.5 million VND/tael. This is a risk for gold buyers at this time.

Meanwhile, the bank USD price, after reaching 26,000 VND/USD yesterday, has shown signs of cooling down today.

Vietcombank listed the USD selling price this morning at 25,980 VND/USD, down 20 VND/USD compared to yesterday. The buying price also decreased accordingly, to 25,590 VND/USD.

At Eximbank, the USD selling price remained unchanged at 25,970 VND/USD as last night. The transfer buying price also remained unchanged at 25,620 VND/USD.

This morning, Sacombank's selling price also decreased slightly to 25,962 VND/USD, down 3 VND/USD compared to last night. The buying price decreased to 25,602 VND/USD.

The State Bank today sharply increased the central exchange rate from 24,854 VND/USD to 24,886 VND/USD, equivalent to an increase of 32 VND/USD.

With a margin of +/-5%, today's ceiling exchange rate is 26,130 VND/USD, the floor exchange rate is 23,641 VND/USD.

Thus, compared to the allowed ceiling, the USD selling price at banks today is still 150 VND/USD lower.
