Will gold prices maintain their current upward momentum next week or will they fall sharply?

Last week, the world gold price continuously broke the record and ended the trading week at 3,238 USD/ounce. Every time the US increased tariffs on Chinese goods and China announced retaliatory measures, the gold price set a new record.

Most recently, China announced additional tariffs on US goods of up to 125% from April 12, causing the world gold price to increase by 60 USD/ounce in the weekend session.

According to expert Tran Duy Phuong, recent developments show that when tariffs are high, gold is high, but when tariffs are low, gold prices will fall.

The market is now watching the moves of US President Donald Trump and China. In a cabinet meeting on April 10, Mr. Trump said he wanted to reach an agreement with China to end the escalating tensions.

Previously, on April 8, Mr. Trump also mentioned the possibility of reaching an agreement with China to ease trade tensions.

America does not have either. a move to respond or criticize China after China imposed additional tariffs on US goods of up to 125% as a retaliatory move.

"Investors believe that these are goodwill gestures from the US. If in the near future the two sides make moves to negotiate or compromise on tariffs, the price of gold will certainly decline sharply. The source of the increase in gold prices will be affected by that source," Mr. Phuong commented.

He also said that gold prices are likely to rise early next week, even approaching the $3,260/ounce mark, before falling again. The price of gold is likely to fall by at least $100/ounce due to the overheating it experienced earlier.
