Gold price hits record 100 million VND/tael, queued for 2 hours to buy half a tael

On the morning of March 19, the price of gold rings set a record of 100 million VND/tael, Hanoi residents lined up, waiting several hours to buy half a tael.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , from 8am on March 19, many Hanoi residents were present at Tran Nhan Tong gold street lining up to wait their turn to buy gold.

The number of customers has increased dramatically, currently the gold shop limits each person to buying only 0.5 tael.

At Bao Tin Minh Chau, the opening price of gold rings was at 97.52 million VND/tael; the selling price was 98.8 million VND/tael.

However, just 2 hours later, the selling price of gold rings was fixed at 100 million VND/tael; the buying price was 98.45 million VND/tael. The difference between buying and selling was 1.55 million VND.

At Saigon Jewelry Company SJC, the gold price is listed at 97.9 - 99.4 million VND/tael for buying and selling. The price of SJC gold rings is also at the same price.

Coming to the gold shop on Tran Nhan Tong street since after 8am, Ms. Mai Anh (Ha Dong district, Hanoi) said that she and her husband often have the habit of buying gold to save money, with the goal of trying to buy 1 tael of gold each month.

The price of gold has been rising continuously for the past few days so the couple is eager to buy gold for this month. Today, the couple waited in line for nearly 2 hours to buy 1 tael of gold ring.

"Gold prices almost only increase, when they decrease, they decrease very little, so for me this is a fairly safe savings channel," Ms. Mai Anh shared.

Mr. Nhat Minh (Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi) is quite regretful when gold prices continuously break previous records.

"Two weeks ago, I went to buy 2 taels of gold rings for 92.5 million VND/tael. At that time, I thought the price of gold was already very high, so I didn't buy more. But then the price of gold increased continuously and today it's up to 100 million VND/tael. I'm quite regretful because I bought a little bit," said Nhat Minh.

Currently, the world gold price is listed at nearly 3,037 USD/ounce. This is the highest record in the trading history of this precious metal.
