According to a new report from Citi Research, the world gold price is expected to increase sharply. Experts believe that within the next three months, the price of gold could reach $3,500 per ounce, higher than the previous prediction of $3,200. The main reason is that more and more people, especially insurance companies in China, are buying gold. In addition, when the world faces many uncertainties, such as new tax policies, gold is seen as a safe-haven asset.
There is currently a rare physical gold shortage in the world, meaning there is not enough gold to meet demand, forcing prices up to encourage those holding gold to sell. According to Citi, by the second quarter of 2025, investment and industrial demand for gold could outpace mined gold production, reaching its highest level since the global financial crisis years ago.
