At the same time, SJC also lowered the price of gold rings to 114 - 117 million VND/tael, 2 million VND lower than yesterday. Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ) bought and sold gold rings at 114.2 - 117.5 million VND/tael. Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Minh Chau, gold rings were listed at 116 - 119 million VND/tael this morning.
In the international market, the spot gold price also fell nearly 150 USD from the peak, down to 3,347 USD/ounce. Converted according to Vietcombank's selling rate, the world gold price is currently equivalent to 105.5 million VND/tael. The difference between the domestic and anchor gold bar prices is over 16 million VND/tael.
Prices fell on comments from US President Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Reuters quoted a source close to Bessent as saying on April 21 that Bessent believed trade tensions with China would ease. However, he revealed that the two countries had not yet started negotiations.
Meanwhile, this morning, the domestic USD price reached a new peak. Vietcombank raised the USD buying and selling price to 25,751 - 26,141 VND, BIDV listed the exchange rate at 25,781 - 26,141 VND. In the free market, foreign exchange points raised the dollar buying and selling price to 26,320 - 26,420 VND.
