This week, the global pepper market fluctuated strongly. In particular, Vietnam's pepper export price increased sharply from 1.47-3.03%. Meanwhile, pepper in Indonesia, Brazil and Malaysia decreased by 2.54%.
In the domestic market, pepper prices increased in the middle of the week but then turned down. At the end of last week, domestic pepper prices were traded in the range of 155,000 - 156,000 VND/kg, increasing and decreasing in opposite directions compared to the previous week.
Experts say that in the coming time, domestic pepper prices are forecast to continue to fluctuate slightly during the peak harvest period, but the market has many supporting factors.
Despite entering the main harvest season, the amount of goods brought to the market is still limited as farmers tend to hold on to their stocks thanks to good income from the previous coffee crop. Demand from traders and speculators is also contributing to keeping prices stable.

Currently, Vietnam is in the 90-day negotiation phase with the US, but the final result cannot be predicted. With the fluctuations in US tariff policy, many manufacturing enterprises are holding back, waiting for the negotiation results, while considering the possibility of expanding to other markets.
Ms. Hoang Thi Lien - President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, commented that if the negotiation results are not positive, Vietnamese enterprises are at risk of losing market share in the US to Indonesia and Brazil. Therefore, enterprises need to proactively find alternative markets and ensure quality to compete in other regions, especially the EU.
According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in the first 14 days of April 2025, Vietnam exported 10,413 tons of pepper, with a total export turnover of 72 million USD.
