Pork and orange prices 'dance' on 28th of Tet

According to the Domestic Market Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade, as of today (January 27, the 28th of the Lunar New Year), the number of people shopping at supermarkets has increased sharply compared to normal days. Prices of foods such as pork, beef, mackerel and some fruits such as dragon fruit and oranges continue to increase.

Currently, the cold and rainy weather in some provinces in the North and Central regions has made shopping more difficult. As of today, people are focusing on buying a lot of fresh food.

Regarding prices, according to statistics from the Domestic Market Department, up to now, the prices of most essential goods for Tet have not increased dramatically. Compared to last year's Tet, the prices of vegetables and some flowers such as chrysanthemums, lilies, gladiolus, and roses are about 5-10% cheaper and there is no shortage, while the prices of pork about 15-25% higher.

Present, pork price Pork butt 110,000-120,000 VND/kg; pork loin and belly 130,000-160,000 VND/kg; grade I beef tenderloin from 250,000-280,000 VND/kg; featherless chicken 120,000-150,000 VND/kg; shrimp price (26-30 pieces/kg): 400,000-450,000 VND/kg.

Pork prices continued to increase on the 28th day of Tet.

With fresh food items, the closer to Tet, food prices Fresh meat prices at traditional markets tend to increase slightly. Prices of pork, beef, and mackerel (in the South) increased slightly by 5,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day.

Regarding vegetables, tubers and fruits, the supply is quite abundant so the prices are stable. Currently, the price of cabbage is at 10,000-15,000 VND/plant, kohlrabi is 5,000 VND/root, lettuce is about 15,000-30,000 VND/kg, tomatoes are about 10,000-15,000 VND/kg (depending on the locality), potatoes are about 15,000-20,000 VND/kg, cauliflower is about 10,000-15,000 VND/plant...

Some fruits are stable compared to the previous day, except for dragon fruit and mandarin oranges, which tend to increase locally in some areas. Specifically, dragon fruit is 60,000-90,000 VND/kg; mango is 50,000-60,000 VND/kg; mandarin orange is 50,000-77,000 VND/kg; pomelo is 20,000-25,000 VND/kg, imported apples are 100,000-120,000 VND/kg, green bananas are 100,000-250,000 VND/bunch (depending on size and locality)...

Notably, flowers and ornamental plants continue to be purchased by many people today. People tend to buy Peach, kumquat, and apricot trees are small in size and have beautiful shapes... Prices of some types of flowers are stable compared to the previous day: Lilies from 200,000 - 350,000 VND/dozen, depending on the type; gladiolus from 80,000 - 100,000 VND/dozen; large chrysanthemums about 40,000 - 60,000 VND/dozen; roses 50,000 - 70,000 VND/dozen...

Meanwhile, prices of peach blossoms and kumquat trees for Tet are still high compared to last year, due to limited supply in some growing areas in the North after the impact of storm No. 3.

According to the Domestic Market Department, demand and prices of some fresh products at markets may increase slightly on the morning of the 29th of Tet. Meanwhile, prices of other items will stabilize and prices of ornamental plants may begin to decrease.
