Steel prices on the exchange
Rebar on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) fell 1.1% to 3,471 yuan a tonne, its lowest since April 8. The contract closed down 0.9% at 3,478 yuan.
The latest data from China shows domestic demand continues to recover at a slow pace, with construction data showing a double-digit decline in the first five months of the year.
SHFE hot-rolled coil fell to a low of 3,680 yuan a tonne, also a level not seen since April 8. It closed down 0.7% at 3,681 yuan.
SHFE wire rod fell 0.8% to 3,660 yuan/t and stainless steel fell 1.4% to 13,930 yuan/t.
The most-traded iron ore for September delivery on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) fell 1.8% to 813 yuan a tonne, while the benchmark August iron ore contract on the Singapore Exchange fell 3.4% to $107.70 a tonne.
DCE coking coal fell 2% to 1,531 yuan/t and coke fell 1.1% to 2,215 yuan/t.
