Spain is a large consumer market for all Vietnamese consumer goods exports because of its large population of over 47 million people and a relatively high average income (about 36.7 thousand USD/year). Not only that, Spain is also a potential niche market for direct domestic consumption of Vietnamese agricultural, aquatic and tropical fruit and vegetable products, especially off-season products and raw products that are suitable inputs for the highly developed food processing export industry in Spain.

Mr. Vu Chien Thang - Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in Spain - said that Spain is a market that annually attracts an average of over 80 million international visitors with the leading tourism service industry, resorts and cuisine in Europe... Therefore, this is a market opportunity for tourism products (including handbags, suitcases, wallets, hats, umbrellas; handicraft products, rattan, bamboo, sedge, carpets), textiles, footwear, wood and wood products, raw food, coffee and spice products of Vietnam.

To further promote Vietnamese goods to the Spanish market, Mr. Thang recommended that Vietnamese enterprises should take advantage of incentives from the EVFTA. At the same time, they should proactively research, grasp the needs, tastes, and requirements of the market, and regularly update new regulations and policies of the host country to proactively plan production, business, and export.

For manufacturing and exporting enterprises, the Trade Office recommends strengthening coordination with the Trade Office in verifying local partners (legal status, financial capacity, facilities, product requirements, quality, consumption market - distribution channels and reputation) before negotiating and signing foreign trade contracts to avoid being "fraudulent, appropriating goods, appropriating capital, delaying or not paying for goods..." In fact, in the past, the Trade Office has supported a number of Vietnamese enterprises in handling cases related to payment for shipments of cashew nuts and black pepper exported to Spain.
