According to information from the International Pepper Community (IPC), updated at 5:00 a.m. on April 23, 2025, the global pepper market continued to maintain a stable trend compared to the previous session.
Indonesian Lampung black pepper price was listed at USD 7,056/ton; while Muntok white pepper was traded at USD 9,641/ton.
In Malaysia, pepper prices continued to move sideways, with ASTA black pepper sold at $9,600/tonne and ASTA white pepper at $12,100/tonne.
The situation in Brazil is similar, as pepper prices remain unchanged from the most recent increase, currently at $6,900/ton.
Vietnam's pepper export prices continue to be stable, with 500 g/l black pepper reaching $6,800/ton, 550 g/l at $6,900/ton, and white pepper at $9,800/ton.
Currently, many pepper growing areas are entering the final stages of the harvest. Favorable weather with sunshine is creating good conditions for pepper harvesting, drying and preservation. However, the rapidly increasing supply is putting certain pressure on the pepper market.
However, this year's pepper output is still forecast to be lower than last year due to the prolonged effects of drought in key growing areas such as the Central Highlands and the Southeast. Although some recent rains have helped improve humidity, they have negatively impacted the flower bud differentiation process, affecting the yield of the next crop.
Despite the decline in output, pepper growers are still assured thanks to the high domestic pepper prices. During the peak harvest season, pepper prices still fluctuated around 150,000 VND/kg, different from previous years when prices often plummeted due to soaring supply. The main reason is that this year farmers are under less financial pressure, so they tend to keep their goods and only sell when absolutely necessary.
