World pepper price developments

According to the update from the International Pepper Community (IPC) at 5:00 a.m. on February 19, 2025, the global pepper market continued to maintain a slight increase and remained at a high level. Pepper prices in Indonesia increased by 4 - 75 USD/ton compared to the previous session.

Specifically, the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper is currently at 7,298 USD/ton (up 4 USD/ton), while Muntok white pepper is at 10,143 USD/ton (up 75 USD/ton).

The Malaysian market continues to maintain stability at a high level. The price of ASTA black pepper here is currently purchased at 9,000 USD/ton, while ASTA white pepper reaches 11,600 USD/ton.

Pepper prices in Brazil have not fluctuated compared to the previous increase, currently maintained at 6,800 USD/ton.

Vietnam's pepper export trend remains stable but shows signs of a slight decrease. Accordingly, the price of 500 g/l Vietnamese black pepper is currently at 6,500 USD/ton, 550 g/l is at 6,650 USD/ton, and white pepper is priced at 9,550 USD/ton.

Pepper growers’ mentality of holding onto their products instead of selling in large quantities has contributed to maintaining high prices. Many households tend to preserve their products and only sell them when the price reaches expectations, helping to stabilize supply in the short term.

It is forecasted that in the coming time, pepper prices will likely continue to increase, especially if the Chinese market - one of Vietnam's largest partners - increases import demand again.
