Specifically, the coffee price in Dak Lak this morning was listed at 125,000 VND/kg; in Lam Dong it was 123,700 VND/kg; in Gia Lai and Dak Nong it was both 125,000 VND/kg.

Last week, the domestic coffee market hit a three-month low of VND116,000/kg on April 9, due to concerns about US reciprocal tariffs.

However, after Mr. Trump announced a 90-day delay in imposing tariffs, the coffee market quickly recovered. Coffee prices increased by VND7,000/kg in just 3 days of the weekend.

In summary, although the market has recovered, coffee prices in the Central Highlands region still recorded a decrease of nearly 2% last week. Dak Lak and Dak Nong were the two localities with the sharpest decrease of VND2,200/kg; prices in Gia Lai decreased by VND2,000/kg, and in Lam Dong, by VND2,300/kg compared to last week.

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), at 5:00 a.m. on April 14, 2025, the global pepper market is showing signs of slowing down and stabilizing after a series of consecutive increases and decreases before.

Indonesia's Lampung black pepper price is currently listed at $7,147/ton, while Muntok white pepper is at $9,805/ton.

In Malaysia, the pepper market also recorded a stable trend with ASTA black pepper at USD 9,850/ton and ASTA white pepper at USD 12,300/ton.

Brazil recorded pepper prices remaining unchanged after previous slight increases, currently reaching 6,800 USD/ton.

In Vietnam, the pepper export market has now stabilized, with 500 g/l black pepper at $6,600/tonne, 550 g/l at $6,800/tonne, and white pepper offered at $9,600/tonne.

Overall, domestic pepper prices increased slightly by VND1,000 to VND2,000 per kg over the past week. In Dak Lak, the increase reached VND2,000 per kg. Dak Nong followed with an increase of VND1,500 per kg.

Pepper prices in Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Dong Nai both recorded an increase of VND1,000/kg compared to last week. Gia Lai also saw a similar increase, while Binh Phuoc recorded no change during the week.

Data from the International Pepper Community (IPC) shows that last week was a time when global pepper prices fell across the board. Of which, Vietnamese black pepper fell the most by $500/ton, followed by Brazil with a $150/ton drop, Indonesia with a $92/ton drop, and Malaysia with a $50/ton drop.

For white pepper, Vietnam also decreased by 500 USD/ton; Indonesian Muntok white pepper decreased by 261 USD/ton and Malaysian ASTA white pepper decreased by 100 USD/ton.

Currently, the Vietnamese pepper industry is conducting a more thorough assessment of the tax rate that the US plans to apply, in order to develop appropriate response scenarios. Businesses in the industry hope that the results of bilateral negotiations will help keep import taxes at 10% and not be increased by reciprocal measures.

In addition, expanding exports to potential markets is also considered a strategic direction. Regions such as Europe, Japan and the Middle East are recording increasing consumption trends thanks to tax incentives and high demand for deeply processed, environmentally friendly pepper products.
