Getting closer to the finish line

Gia Nghia City currently has two communes, Dak Nia and Dak R'moan. Both communes have been recognized as meeting NTM standards since 2020. The city is proud to be the first district-level unit of Dak Nong to complete the NTM program.

This success has contributed to the rapid and sustainable development of Gia Nghia. The poverty rate in the city is only 0.41%, the lowest in the province.

Mr. K'War, a resident of Bon N'Jrieng, Dak Nia commune, recently received support of 80 million VND to build a house, showing the spirit of solidarity and cooperation of the community in the city's new rural construction.

“I am very happy that last August I had a permanent house. I thank Gia Nghia City and the benefactors and units that helped my family have a stable place to live and have more conditions to develop the economy,” Mr. K'War shared.

Gia Nghia's rural infrastructure has been significantly improved since the implementation of the new rural construction. Up to now, the rate of asphalting and concrete rural roads has reached over 67%.

Schools and health stations are solidly built, ensuring learning conditions and health care for the people. In particular, the rate of 5-year-old preschool children attending school is 99.9%, and the rate of students of secondary school age is 99.93%.

Ms. Thi Joat, also in Dak R'moan hamlet, said: “Thanks to the attention and investment from the Party and the State in electricity, roads, schools and stations, people are very excited. We actively participate in building and improving infrastructure. The development of production and convenient travel conditions have helped our children study better.”

In the 2021-2023 period, Gia Nghia City has mobilized over 2.2 billion VND from the community to implement infrastructure construction projects and improve living conditions. This effort includes renovating and building new schools, roads, and cultural houses.

Gia Nghia City Party Secretary Vo Pham Xuan Lam highly appreciated the solidarity of the people in building the new rural areas. The consensus and contribution of the people in donating land, money, working days, etc. contributed significantly to the comprehensive development of the city.

Up to now, the implementation of the NTM criteria set for the period 2021 - 2025 in Dak Nia and Dak R'moan communes has achieved 36/38 criteria with 112/114 component indicators. On average, each commune has achieved 18/19 criteria with 56/57 indicators, reaching 98% of the assigned plan. It is expected that by the end of 2024, both communes will achieve 19/19 criteria, completing the plan.

Confidently reach the finish line on time

Gia Nghia City sets a goal that by the end of 2024, Dak Nia commune will meet advanced NTM standards and strives to have Dak R'moan commune meet advanced NTM standards by the end of 2025.

Currently, the city has 42.6km of village and inter-village roads that have been paved and asphalted, reaching a rate of 100%. Communes have repaired and invested in building 8 new schools. Up to now, over 95% of households in communes have permanent or semi-permanent houses; the number of temporary and dilapidated houses is decreasing. Living conditions are improving day by day.

Besides the advantages, Gia Nghia City is facing some difficulties in implementing the advanced NTM criteria that need to be resolved. Specifically, the health criteria, especially the rate of people participating in health insurance, is facing challenges due to changes in support policies.

In addition, the target of the rate of people using remote medical examination and treatment applications and the criteria of national defense and security are also facing difficulties due to the lack of specific instructions and lack of resources. Gia Nghia City is asking the sectors and levels to find ways to overcome the above difficulties.
