Rice price today April 23: Market rice price drops sharply

Rice prices today, April 23, 2025, in the Mekong Delta region fluctuated slightly. Regarding rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the current price of OM 18 rice (fresh) decreased by 50 VND/kg, fluctuating at 6,900 - 7,050 VND/kg; the price of Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) decreased by 50 VND/kg, fluctuating at 6,900 - 7,050 VND/kg; the price of OM 5451 rice (fresh) increased by 200 VND, fluctuating at 6,500 - 6,700 VND/kg; the price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) increased by 100 VND/kg, fluctuating at 5,800 - 6,000 VND/kg; the price of OM 380 rice (fresh) fluctuated at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg; the price of Nang Hoa 9 rice fluctuated at 6,650 - 6,750 VND/kg.

In many localities today, farmers are offering early summer-autumn rice for sale, while traders are slow in asking to buy. In Soc Trang, buying and selling is slow, and the price of fragrant rice is fluctuating. In Long An, buyers are asking to buy slowly, while traders are mainly taking rice that has been deposited, and the price is stable.

In An Giang, the supply is low, the buying and selling is slow, the price fluctuates slightly. In Tra Vinh, the rice fields are empty, the price is stable. In Bac Lieu, the supply is gradually decreasing, most of the fragrant rice area has been staked, the buying and selling is slow.

As for by-products, the price of by-products fluctuates from 7,450 - 9,000 VND/kg. Currently, fragrant rice bran has increased by 100 VND, fluctuating at 7,450 - 7,600 VND/kg; the price of bran fluctuates at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.

Recorded in localities today, 50404 rice, OM380 supply is low, price is stable, demand is moderate, price fluctuates little. In An Giang, there is little good rice, warehouses buy little, select rice, price is stable. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), salary is low, rice of all kinds fluctuates little.

Sa Dec market canal (Dong Thap), low volume, slow warehouse purchases, stable prices. At An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), the volume is quite good, new rice is generally difficult to sell, prices fluctuate little.

At retail markets, the prices of all types of rice have decreased sharply compared to the beginning of the week. Of which, regular rice decreased by VND2,000/kg, fluctuating at VND13,000 - 15,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice decreased by VND1,000, fluctuating at VND16,000 - 18,000/kg; common white rice decreased by VND1,000/kg, fluctuating at VND16,000/kg; Soc rice decreased by VND1,000/kg, fluctuating at VND17,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice fluctuated at VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Huong Lai rice 22,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice 21,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 20,000/kg; Soc Thai rice 20,000/kg; Japanese rice costs 22,000 VND/kg. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of 28,000 VND/kg;

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today are stable compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 394 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 367 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 317 USD/ton.
