In Bac Lieu, the supply is low, most of the fragrant rice area has been staked, and there is little demand for purchase. In Long An, the supply is gradually decreasing, purchasing power is low, and prices are stable. In Tra Vinh, rice fields are empty, and prices are stable.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today remained unchanged compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 394 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 367 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 317 USD/ton.

According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, rice exports in March 2025 reached 950 thousand tons, worth about 463.6 million USD. In the first 3 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 2.2 million tons of rice, reaching a turnover of 1.14 billion USD, up 0.6% in volume but down 19.7% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

In the first three months of 2025, the Philippines remained Vietnam's largest rice consumer market with a market share of 42.1%. Ivory Coast and Ghana were the next two largest markets with market shares of 16.3% and 10.2%, respectively.

The Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines forecasts that the Philippines' rice import demand will remain high in 2025. Vietnam will continue to be the Philippines' leading rice exporter.

The trade office also forecasts that the Philippines’ rice import demand in 2025 and the following years will remain high as domestic production capacity has yet to improve rapidly. However, the country’s rice price regulation policy could affect profits, cause psychological instability for importers, and impact Vietnam’s exports.

At the same time, the Philippines can find new sources of supply to reduce its dependence on Vietnam. Therefore, rice exporters need to maintain their position in this market while expanding opportunities in other markets.

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price of 5% broken rice in Vietnam has increased compared to the beginning of 2025 but is still at 394 USD/ton - 1 USD/ton, 18 USD/ton and 4 USD/ton higher than the same type of rice in Thailand, India and Pakistan, respectively. However, the increase in Vietnam's rice export price in the coming time is still not really positive due to being influenced by market demand and supply.
