On the afternoon of January 26, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue worked with the Standing Committee of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee. Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee, Secretary General of the National Assembly - Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong; Chairman of the National Assembly's Council for Ethnic Minorities Y Thanh Ha Nie K'dam; Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for National Defense and Security Lieutenant General Le Tan Toi; President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee.
Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue assessed that in 2023, with the synchronous and drastic participation of the entire political system, Gia Lai province has achieved many positive results in all fields. It completed and exceeded 17/24 main targets in 2023; the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 3.02% over the same period; GRDP per capita reached 59.08 million VND/person; total budget revenue reached 5,575.3 billion VND.
The situation of territorial sovereignty, national border security, political security, social order and safety has been maintained stably. The work of Party building and rectification has been carried out synchronously and resolutely. The activities of the provincial National Assembly delegation and People's Councils and People's Committees at all levels have become increasingly practical and effective. The methods of operation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations have been innovated.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the National Assembly Chairman acknowledged and commended the results that the Party Committee, government, army and people of Gia Lai province achieved in 2023, which were quite comprehensive in all fields; and did a good job in foreign affairs with localities of neighboring countries. In particular, the great national unity bloc was firmly consolidated.
The National Assembly Chairman appreciated the frankness of Gia Lai provincial leaders in acknowledging the difficulties and shortcomings of the locality and said that looking straight to identify shortcomings and striving to overcome them is necessary.
Expressing his joy that the province had approved the planning work, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Party Committee and the Gia Lai provincial government to promptly develop and effectively implement the implementation plan; contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 23 dated October 6, 2022 of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region to 2030, with a vision to 2045. The National Assembly Chairman also said that this is also the core content in the province's documents in the next term related to vision, thinking, and overall programs.
The province promptly implements the conclusions of the Central Committee and the Resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government such as Resolution No. 01 of the Government on the main tasks and solutions to implement the Socio-Economic Development Plan, State Budget Estimates and improve the business environment, enhance national competitiveness in 2023 and Resolution No. 02 of the Government on the main tasks and solutions to improve the business environment, enhance national competitiveness in 2024.
In the spirit of not letting the beginning of the year be leisurely and the end of the year be hasty, the National Assembly Chairman reminded the province to achieve the GRDP target for 2024; overcome shortcomings and limitations in areas such as education and training; strengthen the leadership team, especially female cadres and commune-level leaders; carry out administrative reform well; disburse public investment capital; call for attracting investors to process agricultural and forestry products to increase product value, especially OCOP products.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that the work of building the Party and the political system needs to strengthen solidarity based on the principles of Party building organization. Coordinating agencies such as the People's Council and the People's Committee must match each other like the National Assembly and the Government now.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested: "The Provincial People's Committee should review all problems and, if necessary, forward them to the People's Council for resolution. In the next term, it is recommended that from the beginning of the term, the Party Executive Committee, the People's Committee, and the People's Council should coordinate to submit to the Standing Committee a resolution such as Conclusion 19 of the Politburo for the action program of the entire 15th National Assembly for implementation without having to wait. Everything must be regulated by institutions, policies, and projects for the People's Council to approve, only then can the Resolutions of the Central Committee and the province become reality."
The National Assembly Chairman requested the province to promote the role of the provincial National Assembly delegation and the Fatherland Front; closely follow Resolution No. 28 on the Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue witnessed the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) donate 10 billion VND to Gia Lai province to support the construction of a border commune police headquarters, contributing to improving the quality of work to ensure security, order and protect border sovereignty in the area.
