On September 21, the Gia Lai Provincial Center for Disease Control announced that the province had just recorded another death due to rabies. The victim was KK (8 years old, residing in Chu Krih village, Chu Drang commune, Krong Pa district).
Previously, on September 11, K. had symptoms of fever and fatigue, so her family bought her medicine but her condition did not improve.
On the afternoon of September 12, the family took K. to the Krong Pa District Medical Center for examination with symptoms of fever, cough, and fatigue. Patient K. was initially diagnosed with acute bronchitis and was given anti-inflammatory antibiotics.

However, later, the patient showed severe symptoms so he was transferred to Phu Yen Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital and diagnosed with rabies.
On September 15, the patient was transferred to Children's Hospital 2 (Ho Chi Minh City) in a coma and tested positive for rabies virus. On September 20, the patient died.
Through epidemiological investigation, it was learned that K.'s family did not know when K. was bitten by a dog, so they did not get rabies serum and vaccine.
According to statistics from the Gia Lai Provincial Center for Disease Control, since the beginning of the year, the province has recorded 11 deaths due to rabies.
