After several price reductions since the beginning of the year, the price of the iPhone 14 series – Apple's latest smartphone line – is showing signs of stabilizing at official retail stores (with VN/A code). Currently, the price of the highest-end model, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, ranges from VND 26.19 million to VND 26.99 million depending on the retailer (AAR).
Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper , Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, a representative of the CellphoneS system, said: "The iPhone 14 Pro Max was priced at 33.99 million VND at launch and dropped to around 29.99 million VND during the Lunar New Year period when the supply situation stabilized. The current price of over 26 million VND is 2.5 to 3 million VND lower than the most recent official price adjustment, so it's unlikely to drop further."
The price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is currently at its lowest level ever recorded.
According to a market observer, the Vietnamese mobile phone market experiences a decline of approximately 20-30% in the third quarter of each year. However, at the beginning of each new quarter, iPhone prices consistently drop by several hundred thousand to one million VND depending on the model, contributing to increased consumer demand and driving growth for iPhone products.
"Newly launched iPhones typically see a price drop of around 2.5 million VND in the first year, equivalent to about $100 USD according to Apple's listed price. The price reduction process is usually divided into several smaller stages to regulate prices over time, but currently, taking the iPhone 14 Pro Max as an example, we can see that the price at the end of Q2 had already dropped enough to prepare for the next generation iPhone. Therefore, entering Q3, this model is unlikely to establish a new price range or create a growth wave," he commented.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh, Apple product manager at Hoang Ha Mobile, assessed that the iPhone 14 series is in a stable state, with steady sales and no sudden price fluctuations. "I believe this is the right time for those who want to own products from the 14 series thanks to the reasonable price. Normally, Apple and Apple Authorized Dealers (AARs) don't show any signs of price reductions at this time, but this year, early and more active price reductions have occurred, so even when a new model is released, the price of the iPhone 14 series won't change much," Mr. Tuan Minh commented.
In May, the market also became somewhat more vibrant following statements from several major players in the mobile industry who were not afraid to engage in a price war. Some retailers were willing to "go all out" and push the prices of the iPhone 14 series to their lowest levels ever recorded. According to Di Dong Viet, the price of the standard iPhone 14 (128 GB) after all promotions was below 16 million VND, while the prices of the other models, including the iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, were 18.39 million VND, 21.69 million VND, and 23.59 million VND respectively (after all discounts), 2-3 million VND lower than the listed prices at the end of June.
Ms. Phung Phuong, a representative of Di Dong Viet, stated that despite the fierce price war among retail systems, further price reductions are unlikely in the near future, and some retailers have even begun increasing iPhone prices. "Therefore, this is an opportunity to shop and save money," Ms. Phuong shared.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Minh Khue, a representative of Viettel Store's media department, believes that the current market price for the iPhone 14 series has stabilized and has passed the period of price competition. Mr. Nguyen Minh Khue stated: "Customers are the group that benefits most from the current market price of the iPhone 14 series. This year's market is already very unpredictable, depending on supply and demand at different times, so it's difficult to predict the future of the current iPhone and its successor."
However, the representative optimistically believes that the launch of the new iPhone will be an opportunity for the predecessor model to sell better, because not all customers can quickly access the new smartphone immediately after its release.
