Pig price developments in the Northern region

Recorded on the morning of April 24, the price of live pigs in Yen Bai, Hung Yen and Thai Binh continued to decrease, to 67,000 VND/kg, equivalent to the provinces of Ha Nam , Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh.

Meanwhile, in other localities in the North, the price of live pigs remains stable, fluctuating between 68,000 - 69,000 VND/kg.

Pig price situation in the Central Highlands

In Nghe An and Ha Tinh , the price of live pigs this morning decreased slightly, returning to 67,000 VND/kg - the lowest price in the entire region.

In the remaining localities in the Central Highlands, the price of live pigs remained unchanged, continuing to be purchased at around 68,000 - 75,000 VND/kg.

Pig price developments in the Southern region

After a series of consecutive increases, the pig market in the South showed signs of slowing down this morning.

Specifically, the price of live pigs in this area is currently commonly around 74,000 - 76,000 VND/kg. Provinces such as Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang and Ben Tre are currently leading the country with the highest price, reaching 76,000 VND/kg.

After more than a week of slight price increases, the live hog market in the North has turned to decrease in many provinces in the delta region. Meanwhile, the Central and Southern regions still maintain high prices thanks to stable consumer demand in urban and coastal areas.

Many traders believe that in the next few days, there may be a differentiation in the price of live pigs between regions, especially as the April 30 - May 1 holiday is approaching, causing purchasing power in tourist destinations and large cities to tend to increase.

According to information from Gia Lai Newspaper, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province has just issued Official Dispatch No. 788 to implement the first phase of the Environmental Sanitation and Disinfection Month in 2025 to prevent animal diseases. The implementation period starts from April 25 and ends on May 25.

The content of the document stated that the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province proposed that the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities direct specialized agencies and the Agricultural Service Center to develop a plan to organize a general environmental cleaning campaign to control diseases in livestock.

At the same time, district, town and city-level units are required to direct commune-level units to carry out sanitation and disinfection at small-scale livestock farms, grazing grounds, trading areas and slaughterhouses for livestock and poultry; in particular, border areas need to carry out sanitation of trails and openings to prevent the risk of disease spread.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Gia Lai province was assigned to provide 5,280 liters of chemicals from the reserve source to districts, towns and cities; at the same time, monitor and urge localities and farm owners to effectively implement the General Cleaning and Disinfection Month.

At the same time, the Department is also responsible for directing animal quarantine stations at traffic hubs to strictly clean and disinfect vehicles transporting animals and animal products through the area.
