The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested the People's Committees of six provinces bordering Cambodia, including Binh Phuoc, Long An, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Kien Giang and An Giang, to strengthen inspection, prevent and strictly handle acts of smuggling pigs and animal products across the border.
Localities are required to implement import control measures and guide people and businesses to comply with regulations. Commune and district authorities need to count the number of pigs in their localities and promptly detect unusual fluctuations in pig herds, transportation, or fraudulent acts related to quarantine documents.
In addition, local authorities, especially border guards, are directed to increase inspections at border gates, trails, and openings to prevent and promptly handle violations. In addition, it is necessary to step up propaganda to raise public awareness in preventing and combating smuggling and trade fraud.
Market management forces in the provinces are also required to strictly control circulation activities, ensuring strict handling of cases of illegal trading and transportation of pigs and animal products.
