Forecasts and statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture

According to forecasts, live pig prices may continue to fluctuate slightly in some areas as demand for meat increases at the end of the year.

According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, by the end of December 2024, the total pig herd in the country reached about 31 million heads, up 3.3% over the previous year. The poultry herd reached 575 million heads, up 2.8% over the same period, and the total output of fresh meat reached 8.26 million tons, up 5.4%. Of which, fresh pork accounted for 5.16 million tons, up 6.6%, while poultry meat reached 2.43 million tons, up 5.4%.

Abundant and stable meat supply contributes to meeting the strong increase in consumer demand during the peak season at the end of the year.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has noted the risk of disease outbreaks in livestock due to increased consumption. Localities have been asked to strengthen disease control measures and ensure a supply of clean and quality meat to the market during the festival.
