The live hog market on April 3 witnessed mixed developments, with the North recording a slight increase in many localities, while the Central Highlands remained largely stable. Notably, the South showed signs of price reduction in some major cities and provinces.

In the North

Pig prices today in the North tend to increase slightly in some provinces and cities.

Specifically, the price of live pigs in Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen increased by 1,000 VND/kg, to 67,000 VND/kg.

Similarly, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc also recorded an increase of VND 1,000/kg, reaching VND 67,000/kg and VND 66,000/kg.

Notably, Thai Binh and Hanoi had the highest increase in the region, with 2,000 VND/kg, bringing the price of live pigs in these two localities to 68,000 VND/kg, respectively.

Meanwhile, many other localities such as Yen Bai (65,000 VND/kg), Lao Cai (66,000 VND/kg), Hung Yen (66,000 VND/kg), Nam Dinh (66,000 VND/kg), Ha Nam (65,000 VND/kg), Tuyen Quang (66,000 VND/kg), and Ninh Binh (66,000 VND/kg) kept the same price as the previous day.

In the Central Highlands region

Compared to the North, the price of live pigs today in the Central Highlands - Central region is somewhat more stable, but there are still some noteworthy points.

Thanh Hoa and Nghe An both recorded an increase of VND1,000/kg, bringing the price to VND67,000/kg and VND66,000/kg. Quang Tri also had a similar increase, reaching VND67,000/kg.

In contrast, Ninh Thuan recorded a slight decrease of VND 1,000/kg, down to VND 71,000/kg.

The remaining localities such as Ha Tinh (65,000 VND/kg), Quang Binh (67,000 VND/kg), Hue (68,000 VND/kg), Quang Nam (67,000 VND/kg), Quang Ngai (67,000 VND/kg), Binh Dinh (67,000 VND/kg), Khanh Hoa (67,000 VND/kg), Lam Dong (72,000 VND/kg), Dak Lak (69,000 VND/kg), and Binh Thuan (72,000 VND/kg) had no price change.

In the Southern region

The live pig market in the Southern region witnessed a downward price trend in some localities.

Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City both recorded a decrease of VND1,000/kg, down to VND71,000/kg. Meanwhile, most other provinces in the South maintained stable prices.

The highest price in the region was recorded in Ca Mau at 75,000 VND/kg, followed by Hau Giang and Bac Lieu at 74,000 VND/kg, and Dong Thap, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh at 73,000 VND/kg.

The remaining provinces such as Binh Phuoc (72,000 VND/kg), Binh Duong (70,000 VND/kg), Tay Ninh (72,000 VND/kg), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (72,000 VND/kg), Long An (71,000 VND/kg), An Giang (71,000 VND/kg), Vinh Long (72,000 VND/kg), and Ben Tre (72,000 VND/kg) also kept prices stable.

In general, the live hog market on April 3 showed a diverse picture with local fluctuations in each region. The North had a slight increase in many localities, while the Central Highlands and Central regions were quite stable with a few minor adjustments. Notably, the South showed signs of a slight decrease in prices in some major economic centers.

Tuyen Quang: High-tech pig farm project with 2,400 sows is 90% complete

The high-tech pig breeding farm project in Dien village, Nhan Ly commune (Chiem Hoa) of Hong Phat Agricultural Investment Joint Stock Company was approved by the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province in Decision No. 263/QD-UBND dated April 28, 2022, adjusted in Decision No. 100/QD-UBND dated March 18, 2023 on an area of ​​7 hectares. The scale of raising 2,500 pigs, including 2,400 sows and 100 boars, with a total value of 148 billion VND, according to Vietnam Livestock Magazine.

Currently, about 90% of the project items have been completed, the finishing work, equipment installation is being carried out and is expected to be completed in May this year and put into operation in June. The project invests in building a high-tech concentrated pig farm in Na La village, Xuan Quang commune, with an area of ​​over 5 hectares, with a scale of raising 12,000 pigs/batch. Currently, the project has completed investment and construction procedures and is being put into operation.

These are two major projects in Chiem Hoa district. After completion and operation, the project will contribute to the successful implementation of the agricultural restructuring plan for the period 2021-2025; with the orientation of "Developing concentrated commodity livestock farming according to the value chain; building disease-free, biosafe, and environmentally friendly livestock farming areas and facilities. Applying science and technology to improve the stature, productivity, quality, and competitiveness of the livestock industry".
