In general, the live hog market on April 21 showed stability in both the North and the Central Highlands. Meanwhile, the South showed signs of slight improvement in some provinces with insignificant increases.

Bac Giang proactively prevents and controls animal diseases

Although there have been no dangerous epidemics or diseases recorded such as African swine fever, avian influenza, foot-and-mouth disease or lumpy skin disease. However, Bac Giang province has proactively developed plans and implemented disease prevention and control measures for livestock and poultry, according to the Rural Economy Electronic Magazine .

Since the beginning of 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has closely coordinated with localities to synchronously deploy disease prevention and control measures. Notably, the work of directing vaccination, controlling animal transportation, organizing sanitation, and disinfecting the environment of livestock herds has been highlighted.

During the first phase of Environmental Sanitation and Disinfection Month in 2025 alone, Bac Giang provided 2,620 liters of chemicals to localities for disinfection; collected 280 samples to actively monitor African swine fever; quarantined 962 shipments of livestock, poultry and animal products to effectively control the disease and prevent the risk of spreading from outside into the area.

According to forecasts, in the coming time, livestock diseases may become more complicated due to the changing weather conditions that reduce the resistance of livestock. Along with that, the transportation, slaughtering, and consumption of animals and animal products will increase because the selling price of livestock products is at a fairly high level, especially pork.

To proactively prevent and control diseases, stabilize livestock herds, and contribute to the growth of the industry, the Department of Agriculture and Environment continues to direct localities to strictly implement Plan No. 15/KH-UBND dated January 22, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on disease prevention and control of livestock, poultry and aquatic products in 2025. Review, re-vaccinate, supplement, strive to achieve a minimum rate of 80% of the total livestock herd vaccinated with the correct and sufficient types of vaccines.

Along with that, organize training courses to improve the capacity of animal disease prevention and control for veterinary staff and breeders. Strictly manage the transportation of animals and animal products in the area. Guide breeders to strictly apply biosecurity measures and proactively prevent diseases.
