According to Mr. Le Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), Vietnam currently mainly exports fresh, chilled or frozen pork. Of which, in the first 6 months of 2023, more than 19,000 tons of frozen suckling pig were exported. Of which, the largest market for frozen suckling pig in Vietnam is Hong Kong (China).

To export pork, the most important issue is disease control. This is also the content included in the negotiations of free trade agreements and SPS agreements between Vietnam and other countries.

World pork output is forecast to reach more than 114 million tons this year (up 0.3% compared to 2022). Of which, China is the largest pork consumption market, expected to reach 56 million tons (48.8% of the world), while our country has the advantage of being located right next to the world's largest market, but has not been able to exploit it.
