* Commenting on the price of live pigs during the Lunar New Year, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, former Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry, said that the price of live pigs increased but only slightly, not as much as at the same time every year.
"I previously expected that demand would improve a lot during Tet, but the actual situation is not like that. Prices only increase slightly every day. Except for supply disruptions due to the pandemic, with the current situation, prices will hardly reach 60,000 VND/kg," said Mr. Trong.
However, there is unlikely to be a problem with the supply because according to the Department of Animal Husbandry, as of early January, the livestock situation of businesses and farms is still quite stable. With the current pig herd, it is basically enough to meet the consumption demand of the market from now until the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin.
