(NLDO) - The "Touching the Future with Metro" competition has been extended to February 18, 2025, expanding the creative themes, with the awards ceremony on February 22, 2025 at Ben Thanh Station.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications has announced an extension of the deadline for judging and awarding prizes in the "Touching the Future with Metro" competition to ensure thorough evaluation by the Judging Panel and to allow contestants more time to create their content.

The competition, launched by the Department of Information and Communications in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, received a great response with over 200 social media accounts participating, nearly 700 entries, over 16 million views, and more than 5,000 posts shared across platforms, focusing on the operation, amenities, and services of Metro Line 1.

According to the original plan, the competition was scheduled to take place from December 22, 2024 to January 20, 2025, with the results expected to be announced on January 22, 2025. However, due to the unexpectedly high number and quality of entries, the submission deadline has been extended to 11:59 PM on February 18, 2025, while the results announcement and awards ceremony will take place on February 22, 2025 at Ben Thanh Station and the area in front of Ben Thanh Market.

In addition, the scope and content of the competition have been expanded to include topics related to tourism, trade and economics , public transportation, OCOP agricultural products, and the application of digital citizenship in the city, linked to stations on Metro Line 1.

The contest is open to Vietnamese citizens aged 16 and above who are passionate about creating content in the fields of video , graphic design, photography, or creative writing. Participants can choose to create entries based on 15 suggested themes in the rules, in formats such as short videos (Facebook Reels, TikTok), creative writing (blog posts, online posts), graphic design (posters, infographics, illustrations), or a series of images telling a story.

The "Touching the Future with Metro" competition aims to encourage creativity and innovation, especially in the fields of urban transportation and future technology, providing an opportunity for contestants to showcase their unique ideas and contribute to building a civilized and modern city.

Metro Line 1 ran throughout the night of Lunar New Year's Eve (Year of the Snake).

Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) will operate flexibly from January 24th to February 2nd to serve people during the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025.

Specifically, from January 24th to 28th, the metro will operate from 5 AM to 11 PM daily. On January 29th (the first day of Tet), trains will operate from 0:30 AM to 2 AM and from 5 AM to 10 PM. From January 30th to February 2nd, operating hours will be from 5 AM to 10 PM. The number of trips and the time intervals will be adjusted to suit the increased demand during Tet.
