Currently, the purchase price at the garden is 170,000 - 190,000 VND/dozen (12 fruits), an increase of 10,000 VND/dozen compared to last week. With this price, coconut farmers have an average income of about 130 - 150 million VND/ha/year.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chan, owner of a coconut garden in Huyen Hoi commune, Cang Long district, said that the price of dry coconuts had always been unstable and only increased to a maximum of VND110,000/dozen. However, since May 2024, the price of dry coconuts has gradually increased and has now reached VND170,000 - 190,000/dozen depending on the quality of the fruit. This is the highest price of dry coconuts ever. This is the dry season, so the yield of dry coconuts is high, about 1,200 fruits/ha/month. Most coconut farmers are very excited because of the high income.

Mr. Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tra Vinh province, said that the province has nearly 89,000 households growing more than 7.2 million coconut trees, with an area of over 27,520 hectares, of which more than 23,600 hectares are bearing fruit. Coconut productivity in Tra Vinh reaches an average of over 17.1 tons/ha/year, equivalent to 14,300 fruits/ha/year, 1.5 times higher than the average productivity in the Mekong Delta region. Implementing the program to improve the coconut value chain, the province currently has 5,276 hectares of coconut grown according to international organic standards by 8 companies and cooperatives linked in production and consumption. This linkage is the province's orientation to develop coconut trees, making an important contribution to economic growth and sustainable income for farmers.

Mr. Huynh Khac Nhu, General Director of Tra Bac Joint Stock Company (Trabaco), said that 2024 is the year when the economic value of coconut trees reaches its highest level in the past 5 years. The country currently has about 854 enterprises producing and processing coconut products; of which more than 90 enterprises export coconut products. Among the export processing enterprises, there are 42 enterprises exporting deeply processed products with nearly 90 products bearing the brand "Made in Vietnam" such as: activated carbon, dried coconut water for drinking, coconut milk for drinking, frozen coconut milk, white coconut oil, coconut fiber mats, coconut fiber threads, etc. According to forecasts from large enterprises specializing in producing coconut products for export, the economic value of coconut trees will continue to be maintained and increase in the following years thanks to the expansion of export markets, the demand for raw coconut materials in the coming time is very large.

By 2025, Tra Vinh province aims to expand the coconut acreage, apply science and technology to increase coconut productivity to about 16 tons/ha/year and have at least 8,000 hectares of coconut grown organically, of which 6,000 hectares have achieved international organic certification. Localities in the province have implemented a program to support farmers in developing a coconut value chain that meets VietGAP and organic standards, and building concentrated coconut growing areas.

The People's Committee of Tra Vinh province has directed localities and specialized agencies to focus on attracting investment and supporting businesses to create links to develop concentrated coconut material areas according to VietGAP and organic standards associated with processing factories. In the period of 2025 - 2030, the province will continue to promote investment attraction and support businesses to develop the coconut processing industry. The province strives to have at least 10 businesses linked with cooperatives to produce and process coconut products and build raw material areas that meet export standards.

Recently, the Tra Vinh - Greenfood fruit processing factory with a total investment of nearly 380 billion VND, invested by Stella Invest Joint Stock Company, has been started in the province, in Hung Hoa commune, Tieu Can district. The factory specializes in producing soft drinks, fruit juices, products from fresh coconut, dried coconut, and canned fruit. When put into operation, the fruit processing factory will contribute to increasing the value and expanding the market for Tra Vinh fruits; including coconuts, helping gardeners in the province increase profits and sustainable income.
