The richest family in Vietnam owns assets worth 111,776 billion VND

In the last days of 2023, one of the figures that attracted the attention of financial investors was the first appearance of Mr. Pham Nhat Quan Anh - son of Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong.

On December 18, when VinFast and Marubeni Corporation officially announced the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in reusing electric vehicle batteries, Mr. Pham Nhat Quan Anh appeared before the media for the first time as Deputy General Director of VinFast's production division.

Then, on December 21, Mr. Pham Nhat Quan Anh completed the purchase of 150,000 VIC shares under the employee stock option program (ESOP), with a transaction value of VND 1.5 billion. Previously, Mr. Quan Anh did not own any VIC shares.

This deal was quite modest but was enough to put Mr. Quan Anh on the list of members of the Pham family owning VIC shares, and at the same time helped the Pham family become the richest family on the Vietnamese stock market with total assets of up to 111,776 billion VND.

Mr. Pham Nhat Quan Anh - son of Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong has contributed to the Pham family's huge fortune.

The person who contributed the most to the Pham family and also holds the position of the richest person on the Vietnamese stock market is Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong with 92,803 billion VND.

Ms. Pham Thu Huong, Mr. Vuong’s wife, owns VIC shares worth 7,609 billion VND. The value of VIC shares owned by Ms. Pham Thuy Hang, Ms. Huong’s sister, is 5,091 billion VND, and by Ms. Pham Hong Linh, Ms. Hang’s sister, is 615 billion VND, etc.

The second richest family on the Vietnamese stock market is the Tran family, with the richest person being Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Phat Group, who owns assets worth 42,381 billion VND.

Although Ms. Vu Thi Hien, Mr. Long's wife, does not hold any position at Hoa Phat Group, she owns HPG shares worth VND11,923 billion. Mr. Tran Vu Minh, Mr. Long's son, owns Hoa Phat shares worth VND2,536 billion.

In addition, some members related to Mr. Tran Dinh Long own HPG shares worth from 8.9 billion VND to 26.5 billion VND. In total, the Tran family currently has assets worth 53,131 billion VND.

The Ho family of Mr. Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank), has the most members holding trillion-dollar assets.

Topping the list is Mr. Ho Hung Anh with 19,010 billion VND. This asset comes from TCB shares of Techcombank and MSN shares of Masan Group. Mr. Ho Hung Anh is in the Top 10 richest people on the Vietnamese stock market.

Also owning MSN and TCB shares like Mr. Ho Hung Anh is his wife – Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy. This amount of shares is equivalent to about 6,000 billion VND.

Without holding MSN shares, but with just over 174 million TCB shares, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Mr. Hung Anh's mother, has assets worth over 5,500 billion VND on the stock market.

Some members of the Ho family holding TCB shares worth thousands of billions of VND include Ms. Nguyen Huong Lien - sister-in-law (2,214 billion VND), Mr. Ho Anh Minh - son (4,387 billion VND), Ms. Ho Thuy Anh - daughter (3,328 billion VND).

As of December 31, 2023, the total value of MSN and TCB shares owned by Ho family members was VND50,122 billion. Thanks to that, Ho family became the third richest family on the Vietnamese stock market.

Fourth place belongs to the Nguyen family, headed by Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Masan Group (18,413 billion VND). Mrs. Nguyen Hoang Yen, Mr. Quang's wife, is behind with 2,842 billion VND.

Along with representing ownership at MSR and Techcombank, the Nguyen family has assets worth 40,484 billion VND.

Closing the last position in the Top 5 richest families on the Vietnamese stock market is the Ngo family with the head being Mr. Ngo Chi Dung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank - VPBank.

Mr. Ngo Chi Dung directly owns VPB shares worth VND6,308 billion. Meanwhile, other family members are billionaires such as: Ms. Hoang Anh Minh - Mr. Ngo Chi Dung's wife (VND6,274 billion), Ms. Vu Thi Quyen - Mr. Dung's mother (VND6,257 billion).

The total value of the Ngo family's assets on the stock market is 18,838 billion VND.
