In the world market, major exchanges such as China, Japan, Singapore and Thailand also did not record major fluctuations. On the Tocom Tokyo exchange, RSS3 rubber prices for contracts in April, May and June 2025 remained at around 341 - 342 yen/kg.

In Shanghai, contracts for delivery from April to August 2025 also remained flat in the range of 16,640 to 16,815 yuan/kg. In Singapore, TSR20 rubber prices saw a slight adjustment with an increase of 3.5 to 3.9 cents/kg for the May to August contracts, bringing prices to a range of 169.50 to 170.20 cents/kg.

According to the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC), global rubber production in February 2025 reached about 945,000 tons, down 4.2% year-on-year and down sharply by 29.2% month-on-month. Meanwhile, consumption reached 1.187 million tons, down slightly from the previous month but still up 1.6% year-on-year.

For the full year 2025, global natural rubber production is expected to increase only slightly by 0.4% to nearly 14.9 million tonnes. Some countries such as China, India, Thailand are predicted to have positive growth, while Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia are expected to record a downward trend in production.

On the other hand, global natural rubber consumption is expected to increase by 1.7% this year, reaching about 15.6 million tons. Countries such as China, India, Thailand and Vietnam all have increased consumption demand, with China leading the way with a 2.5% increase.

The imbalance between supply and demand could lead to another shortage in the rubber market – the fifth consecutive year of falling supply. Although rubber prices have recovered in recent times, this has not been enough to encourage growers to replant or expand acreage.

The main reason for the persistent shortage is that rubber prices have remained low for many years, making farmers less interested in new plantings. Many have switched to other crops with higher economic efficiency, causing rubber supply to be unable to keep up with the increasing global demand. This is also a factor that may continue to push rubber prices higher in the future.
