Coffee prices continue to "escalate", what scenario will happen in the future? Coffee export prices increase when supply from Vietnam is forecast to decrease by 20%

In just the first two days of the week, the price of coffee on the London Robusta coffee market has increased by 107 USD/ton and is currently at 3,465 USD/ton for the May delivery period, and 3,225 USD/ton for the November delivery period. Along with that is a large volume of commodity transactions.

Coffee prices break record and are approaching the 100,000 VND/kg mark

The increase in world coffee prices has fueled the domestic coffee market. Accordingly, coffee prices in the Central Highlands provinces are currently at an extremely high level, with Dak Nong at VND98,300/kg, Dak Lak at VND98,200/kg, Gia Lai at VND98,000/kg and Lam Dong at VND97,900/kg.

Many forecasts say that the price of coffee in the Central Highlands could reach and surpass the 100,000 VND/kg mark this week. This will be a historic week for the world coffee market.

Faced with the rising trend of coffee prices, many businesses said they were in a difficult situation. The reason is that many coffee growers have not delivered to agents for whom they had previously agreed on prices. Agents, due to lack of goods from farmers, have not delivered to exporters, causing chaos in the export business…

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luan, CEO of Global Trade Link Company (Meet More) - shared that coffee prices are increasing too high and abnormally. The company itself could not predict the current sharp increase, leading to difficulties in production because export orders signed with customers before now have to pay high prices to have goods delivered to customers.

“Since after Tet until now, we have been selling at a loss,” said Mr. Luan, adding that the company can only buy raw materials in small amounts to complete orders, and is refusing to accept large orders because accepting more will only result in more losses.

According to Mr. Phan Minh Thong, Chairman of Phuc Sinh Group, domestic coffee prices continue to increase every day and are being sold in small amounts, companies that buy goods to deliver signed contracts are suffering unprecedented losses. The price loss is tens of millions of VND per ton, while the coffee contracts are for hundreds to thousands of tons. Mr. Thong affirmed that the amount of loss is unimaginable, the damage is huge.
