At the same delivery period of May 2025, at the end of the coffee trading week on the London - UK exchange, Robusta coffee prices this week reached 5,514 USD/ton, 117 USD/ton higher than the previous week, an increase of 2.19%; while Arabica coffee prices closed at 8,600 USD/ton, 280 USD/ton higher than the previous week, an increase of 3.37%.

Compared to the same period in 2024, Arabica coffee prices increased by 113%, while Robusta coffee increased by 84%.

Today's domestic coffee price is recorded at 133,900 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to last week, or an increase of 1.52%.

With the current coffee price, coffee farmers are making very high profits, while just 3 years ago, a price of 50,000 VND/kg was a dream.

Although coffee prices are very good and selling them brings in big profits, many farmers are storing coffee instead of selling it and depositing the money in the bank because it is more effective.

Vietnam's coffee crop starts in October every year and peaks before the Lunar New Year (January), but there are also growing areas that are still harvesting.

That is jackfruit coffee (also known as liberica coffee) which is still widely grown in Quang Tri. This is a coffee variety that is completely different from Robusta or Arabica.

In the world , jackfruit coffee is grown the most in the Philippines but its output only accounts for about 1% of global coffee.

On March 23, Mr. Nguyen Duy Phuong, Director of Bon Phuong Ecological Agricultural Cooperative (Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri), said that he is harvesting jackfruit coffee and it is expected to last for the next month.

This is a coffee variety with a tall, woody trunk, large, wide leaves similar to jackfruit leaves, and the coffee has a faint jackfruit scent. Because jackfruit coffee ripens late, in the dry, sunny season, it is very convenient for harvesting and processing.

In Quang Tri, jackfruit coffee costs up to 20,000 VND/kg amid sharp increase in coffee bean prices.

Currently, jackfruit coffee is processed using a specialty method, the roasted type costs from 500,000 - 600,000 VND/kg.
