At the end of the trading session early this morning (April 18) on the London - UK floor, Robusta coffee prices dropped sharply, from 1.81% - 2.51%.

Specifically, the delivery terms for May and July 2025 decreased by three digits, respectively 135 and 102 USD/ton, to 5,253 and 5,277 USD/ton.

Delivery terms for September and November 2025 decreased by 99 and 95 USD/ton, to 5,211 and 5,142 USD/ton.

Converted according to the exchange rate, Robusta coffee prices on the floor are from 132,000 - 135,500 VND/kg. Domestic coffee prices on April 17 were 133,700 VND/kg, up 700 VND/kg, but showed signs of decreasing at the end of the day and are expected to continue to decrease today.

Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor also decreased slightly, by less than 0.5%. The delivery period in May 2025 decreased by 10 USD/ton, to 8,280 USD/ton, about 212,500 VND/kg.

After a series of 7 consecutive price increases, the decline in coffee prices is understandable as investors need to take profits. According to coffee market expert Nguyen Quang Binh, inventories on the two exchanges have increased again and investors are taking advantage of selling before the 2025 Easter holiday to hedge against risks.

The International Coffee Organization (ICO) reported that global coffee exports in February 2025 increased by 7.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching 733,800 tons. The cumulative amount of coffee exported from the beginning of the crop, from October 2024 to February 2025, decreased by 2.7% compared to the same period last year, reaching 3.292 million tons.

The ICO continues to maintain its forecast for global coffee production in the 2024-2025 crop year at 10.68 million tonnes, down 5.83% compared to the previous coffee crop year, while consumption is 10.62 million tonnes, up 2.25%.
