According to Google, Flash is the best Gemini model for everyday users, helping with quick tasks like writing, studying, and finding ideas. Gemini 2.0 Flash has now replaced the older Gemini 1.5 Flash in the Gemini app for Android.
Analyst Max Weinbach assessed that Flash 2.0 outperformed OpenAI's GPT-4o and Claude 3.6 Sonnet by responding faster and more accurately.
Flash 2.0 was first introduced as an experiment in December 2023 and after more than a year it is now available to all users.
Google is currently rolling out Flash 2.0 in stages, so it may take a few days for user devices to be able to use it. To experience the latest version, users need to make sure to update the Google app and Gemini app when receiving notifications from the system.
While not a major upgrade, this version does offer significant improvements in processing speed and image creation capabilities. Users can expect even more improvements in future updates.
