(Dan Tri) - After the existing Hue city is divided into Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan districts, one of the two new administrative units will be temporarily located at the old headquarters of the Military Command of Thua Thien Hue province.
According to information from Mr. Nguyen Huu Hai, Head of the Finance and Planning Department of Hue City, from the beginning of 2025, the current Hue city will be divided into two new districts: Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan.
These two districts will act as the political, economic, cultural centers and driving forces for the development of Hue city under the Central Government.
The administrative center of Thuan Hoa district will be located at the current headquarters of Hue city, while the agencies of Phu Xuan district will temporarily operate at the former headquarters of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Military Command.
The new headquarters of the Provincial Military Command was built in the new urban area of An Van Duong and was completed on December 14. Hue City has deployed bidding packages to renovate the old headquarters to suit new needs.
Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, said that the city is focusing on completing the public administrative center of Phu Xuan district to serve people right after the 2025 New Year holiday.
Public administration management software is also being built to ensure uninterrupted operations.
In the long term, the Phu Xuan District Public Administration Center will be planned in Huong Long Ward. After completing the arrangement of new administrative units, the authorities will carry out the procedures for investment and construction.
On November 30, the National Assembly passed a resolution to establish Hue City under the central government, effective from January 1, 2025. Hue City will have 9 district-level administrative units and 133 commune-level administrative units. The existing city will be split into 2 districts, Phu Xuan and Thuan Hoa.
Phu Xuan District has an area of nearly 130km2, a population of over 200,000 people, including 13 wards north of the Huong River. Thuan Hoa District has an area of nearly 140km2, a population of nearly 300,000 people, including 19 wards south of the Huong River.
