Rushing to prepare for the first Carnaval stage on the sea in Vietnam
Báo Đại Đoàn Kết•20/04/2024
The Ha Long Carnival 2024 program with the theme "Lighting up Wonders" will be held on the evening of April 28, at Ocean Park Beach (Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh ).
The highlight and difference of this year's Ha Long Carnival is that for the first time, a live art performance and a carnival were built on the sea. The performance stage harmoniously combines the land and the sea, designed in 3 layers on the sand, shallow water and deep water. The grandstand is installed right on the sandbank in the Ocean Park Beach area.
In addition, the program also applies modern technology such as: Drone light (unmanned aerial vehicles), fireworks, mapping, LED, sound, and modern lighting... This also means that the construction and preparation for this year's Ha Long Carnival is more complex and has a larger workload than previous years.
According to Meritorious Artist Thanh Hang, General Director of the Ha Long Carnival 2024 program, for nearly 2 weeks, more than 300 workers have been mobilized, taking turns working continuously from 6am to 12pm every day to ensure the progress of the construction of the stage, stands, ... as well as technical plans according to the set ideas. Up to this point, the unit has completed the overall design of the stage area, the performance area of Ha Long Carnival 2024; has built and produced music files, visual 3D mapping. The construction of the stage, sound, and lighting will be basically completed on April 23. After that, the unit will edit and test run from April 24-25 and complete everything on April 26 to serve the general rehearsal.
The 6,000-seat grandstand is also being rushed to completion by a professional construction unit. The overall progress is currently at about 80%. It is expected that the grandstand construction will be completed before April 25. After completing the stage and grandstand construction, Ha Long City will invite a consulting unit from the Ministry of Construction and coordinate with the Department of Construction in safety inspection and assessment.

Ha Long Carnival 2024 will be held on the evening of April 28, at Ocean Park Beach (Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh). The performance stage harmoniously combines onshore and offshore, designed in 3 layers on sand, shallow water and deep water. The male and female rock symbol weighing about 30 tons is placed on a barge at sea and is the highlight of the parade of hundreds of ships and boats on the bay. The stage also recreates the familiar image of a sailing boat on Ha Long Bay. The surface of the boat is designed as an art performance stage. The position of the boat has also been calculated to suit the sea level at the time of the performance. One of the most elaborate models at the Ha Long Carnival is the dragon, inspired by the image of a dragon from the Tran Dynasty. The dragon is about 77m long, moves by a rail system, and is divided into 3 parts that can be flexibly separated according to each performance. In the picture is the dragon's tail. The dragon's frame is made of iron and steel, with soft, supple curves. Welders reinforce the dragon's frame. The dragon scales are made of more than 100 scales connected together and attached to the dragon's frame. Workers attach LED lighting systems to models to create lighting effects... And paint the models. The construction and installation stages of the canvas backdrop and lighting system are being urgently deployed. According to the construction unit, this is one of the programs that uses the most layers of truss (scaffolding used to hang speakers, lights, projection screens...) in Vietnam. The program uses the most modern sound and lighting systems available today. The grandstand of the 2024 Ha Long Carnival program has an area of about 4,000m2, with a capacity of about 6,000 seats. The grandstand is designed with 9 rows of seats (lengthwise), the highest position is only about 3.8m. The construction of the low grandstand is to ensure the safety of people and tourists because the grandstand is located on a sandy beach - a place with terrain that is prone to subsidence. To ensure the grandstand is firmly on the sand, the construction unit used a lot of welded and stamped corrugated iron sheets to spread evenly underneath, then erected construction scaffolding above. Up to now, the overall construction progress of the projects has reached about 80%. It is expected that on April 26, all works will be completed to serve the general rehearsal.
