In the group stage, the girls in red had an easy victory over the Myanmar women's team.
However, to avoid complacency, coach Mai Duc Chung asked his players to forget that victory and focus on the final.
“Just because you have won against your opponent does not mean you can be complacent. If you win in the group stage, you must immediately forget about that match and focus on the final.
We and they already know each other, so it's a win-lose situation, whoever is luckier will win.
I think in this match (against the Cambodian women's team), we can ensure the requirements, both winning and maintaining our strength," coach Mai Duc Chung said at a press conference after the match against the Cambodian women's team on the evening of May 12.
In the semi-final match against the host team of SEA Games 32, Huynh Nhu and her teammates won quite easily.
Throughout the match, the Cambodian players almost did not put any significant pressure on the Vietnamese women's team's goal.
However, coach Mai Duc Chung still highly appreciates the progress of the Cambodian women's team.
“We are cautious and respectful of Cambodia. They have improved a lot. We worked hard to win. It is good to see that teams in the region have improved like this,” said Mr. Chung.
According to the schedule, the final match of women's football at SEA Games 32 between Vietnam and Myanmar will take place at 7:30 p.m. on May 15.
