139 Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, and frontline laborers from 7 provinces and cities including Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and their relatives attended the program.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Comrade Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Comrade Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President; leaders of central forces, departments, branches, socio-political organizations; representatives of provinces with Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, frontline laborers... attended the meeting and expressed gratitude.
On the side of Dien Bien province, there were comrade Tran Quoc Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, departments, branches, unions and localities in the province attending.
The program opened with heroic and emotional art performances about the Dien Bien Phu campaign, the dedication and sacrifice of the outstanding people who fought bravely for national independence and peace, contributing to the great victory of Dien Bien Phu in the past.
Opening the program, comrade Do Van Chien reviewed the significance and role of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. And affirmed that our people will forever remember the heroic martyrs who devoted their lives to the eternal existence of the Fatherland. The next generation will always remember the contributions of the soldiers, Youth Volunteers, and frontline laborers who did not fear danger and rushed into battle. We will also forever be grateful for the efforts of the people across the country with the slogan "all for the front, all for victory", doing extraordinary things... contributing to the victory. Promoting the fine tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking water" of the nation, our country has been doing and will do its best to repay the sacrifices and losses of our comrades. On this occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front coordinated with central ministries and branches and provinces and cities nationwide to organize gratitude programs towards 13,836 Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, and frontline laborers who directly participated in the campaign across provinces and cities, to remind them of the significance, stature, and value of the victory, and to promote it in the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland...
Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong informed the delegates about the achievements of Dien Bien province's development after 70 years of liberation. He also affirmed that the great historical significance and the great stature of the Dien Bien Phu Victory remain forever in the memory and heroic history of the nation. He emphasized: "The Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province continue to strive to build Dien Bien increasingly rich and beautiful, contributing to the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the dedication, sacrifice and noble contributions of the heroes, martyrs, soldiers of Dien Bien, Youth Volunteers, and frontline workers who directly participated in the Campaign...".
On behalf of the delegates, Dien Bien soldier Bui Kim Dieu (currently living in Dien Bien) told the story of participating in the campaign, spreading national pride to the delegates. He represented the Dien Bien soldiers of the past, promising to the souls of the heroic martyrs, to his comrades, to the Party, the State and the people that he would continue to promote the nature and tradition of a revolutionary soldier, uphold the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", and truly be an exemplary model for the younger generation to learn and follow. Contributing with the Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province to build the province to develop quickly and sustainably...
From Ho Chi Minh City, Dien Bien soldier Duong Chi Ky attended the program, emotionally telling historical stories and sharing: “The generation of Dien Bien soldiers in the past, during the resistance war, always raised high the flag of "Determination to fight, Determination to win" that Uncle Ho sent. During the years of peace, we always preserved and promoted the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers". Therefore, I hope that the new generation of young people, the descendants of the ethnic groups in the Northwest in particular and Vietnam in general, remember the lessons and historical values; study, practice, cultivate morality, follow the example of the heroic martyrs of the past; overcome all difficulties and challenges, make our homeland and country more prosperous and beautiful...".
Appreciating the contributions of the previous generation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his warm regards, deep gratitude and congratulations to all Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, frontline workers and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province in particular and the whole country in general who contributed to the Dien Bien Phu Victory. The Prime Minister requested that all levels, sectors and localities in the coming time continue to well implement the Party's policies and the State's laws and policies, further promote the care of war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution, focusing on a number of tasks:
First of all, strengthen propaganda work to raise people's awareness of the great sacrifices and contributions of those who have contributed to the revolution; promote patriotism, the tradition of remembering the source of water, the spirit of great national unity, a sense of responsibility towards history, and the aspiration to contribute to the country.
Synchronously and effectively implement preferential policies for meritorious people, constantly improve the material and spiritual life of meritorious people and their families; pay more attention to meritorious people in difficult circumstances, lonely, homeless, and families of meritorious people in remote, border, island and ethnic minority areas.
Continue to effectively carry out the mass movement to care for the families of war invalids, martyrs, and people with revolutionary contributions. Ensure that they have a living standard of average or higher; actively support the gratitude fund; no person with revolutionary contributions must be left without preferential policies of the Party and State.
Along with that, promote research and promulgation of specific and practical support mechanisms and policies, create favorable conditions, promote the role of meritorious people, war invalids and sick soldiers. At the same time, focus on renovating the landscape of martyrs' cemeteries to ensure spaciousness, cleanliness, and beauty, showing sacredness and respect, becoming a red address to educate the heroic historical traditions of the nation for future generations. Promote the application of science and technology in managing information data, images of relics of heroes, martyrs, war invalids and sick soldiers, and DNA identification for cases of martyrs with unknown information.
The Prime Minister also hopes that Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, and frontline laborers will continue to uphold their traditions and will to be self-reliant and self-reliant, always being a shining example for the younger generation to follow. He requested Dien Bien province to promote the inheritance of the spirit and victory of Dien Bien Phu, unite and work together to develop the province quickly and sustainably, maintain the Northwestern border, and constantly improve the material and spiritual life of the people of all ethnic groups...
