Expressing gratitude to generations of leaders and officials of the Information and Communications sector through the ages, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that the meeting was an opportunity to review the industry's stories in the past, gain more motivation for the present and confidently continue writing the story of the future.

The spirit of "remembering the source of water" and the tradition of "loyalty" of the Information and Communications sector have also spread throughout the country, as this year is also the first year that all 63 provincial and municipal Information and Communications departments have organized meetings with retired officials of the Information and Communications sector in the area.

At the meeting, veteran officials of the industry acknowledged and highly appreciated the work that the Ministry of Information and Communications has done in the past time. “The work that the Ministry of Information and Communications has done is very valuable. Through monitoring, we are happy for the progress of the industry. We hope that the Ministry of Information and Communications will continue to advise the Party and the State to do the things that life really needs, with clear, easy-to-remember and easy-to-do goals,” shared former Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop.

Mr. Le Doan Hop also noted some areas: Publishing is an industry that "chooses words", orients reading culture, so it is necessary to find ways to have many good books, research and establish a publishing fund to sponsor good writers; Journalism is encapsulated in 4 words "Honesty, good"; Digital transformation should focus on 3 things: Digital Government, Digital Enterprise and Digital Citizen.

Expressing his impression of what the Ministry of Information and Communications has done, Mr. Mai Liem Truc pointed out 3 major marks of the Ministry, which are: Changing social awareness about digital transformation and the 4.0 revolution so that from leaders to every citizen know and talk about digital transformation; Leading businesses and localities to implement digital transformation to achieve specific results; Doing a good job of personnel work, selecting leaders based on their capacity, work and rotating and changing the environment to challenge them.

As someone who has worked in the field of information and communication for many years, former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Ha Dang commented: Through the statements of retired officials in the information and communication sector, it can be seen that this is a force that is “retired but not mentally retired, mentally still developing, still attached to daily life. “As long as we live and work, we are still attached to the information and communication sector,” said Mr. Ha Dang.

Speaking to retired officials, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung once again emphasized that the information and communications industry today is like wings to help Vietnam fly. Press, media, and publishing will arouse the aspiration for a strong Vietnam and turn it into spiritual strength. Material strength, mainly digital technology, is identified as the main driving force for Vietnam to become a developed country by 2045. "Whether the story of today's generation can be written or not depends on the efforts of the entire industry at present, especially the aspirations of the current generation," the Minister pointed out.

Currently, Vietnam's per capita income ranks 120th in the world and our international rankings are basically around 100. The Ministry of Information and Communications aims to have all sectors of the industry in the world's top 50 by 2025. The Ministry of Information and Communications is committed to making every effort to achieve this goal.

“Regarding journalism, the world does not rank, but currently the main story of journalism is to carry out digital transformation to change the way we do journalism, it is still journalism but the tools have changed,” the Minister added.
