Speaking at the meeting, AIPA Secretary General Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman welcomed and highly appreciated the participation of young AIPA parliamentarians; stating that the presence of young parliamentarians demonstrates the maturity of the AIPA Young Parliamentarians mechanism – which originated from an idea and proposal by the Vietnamese National Assembly in 2020 and has now become an official mechanism in AIPA's operations. The AIPA Secretary General requested that the young AIPA parliamentarians continue to build on the achievements already made to contribute to enhancing the status, role, and image of young AIPA parliamentarians.

The representative of the Lao National Assembly thanked Vietnam for the warm and thoughtful reception, emphasizing that this is the foundation for the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians to achieve its set goals. In the spirit of being the Chair of AIPA2024, the representative of the Lao National Assembly extended an invitation to young parliamentarians to visit the beautiful country of Laos.

Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Lan, Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly's Ethnic Affairs Committee and Vice Chairperson of the Young National Assembly Delegates Group of the 15th National Assembly, delivered a speech at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Affairs Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly's Young Delegates Group of the 15th National Assembly, Dinh Thi Phuong Lan, stated that Vietnam highly appreciates the initiative of the AIPA Secretariat and the Lao National Assembly to meet with young AIPA parliamentarians; and believes that AIPA will work alongside the IPU to build a suitable legal framework, joining hands with governments to respond to new challenges; while also promoting citizen participation in the process of building and implementing national policies as well as in the process of building a stable and prosperous ASEAN Community and world.

Thanking the young parliamentarians for attending the 9th IPU Global Young Parliamentarians Conference hosted by the Vietnamese National Assembly, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council expressed confidence and expectation that the Conference would exchange experiences and solutions to improve institutions and policies in promoting digital transformation, innovation, and entrepreneurship to enhance opportunities for sustainable economic development; exchange and discuss the development of artificial intelligence to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals; and share experiences in promoting respect for cultural diversity in the context of technological transformation and globalization.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized that Vietnam hopes the young AIPA parliamentarians will continue to support the adoption of the Hanoi Declaration, for the success of the Conference, and to work together for a sustainable and prosperous ASEAN and IPU.
