Attending the event were comrade Luong Ngoc Binh, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations; representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors.
At the meeting, the delegates reviewed the traditional friendship, cooperation and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia. Up to now, the cooperation, economic, trade, investment and tourism relationship between the two countries has been increasingly developing, contributing to further fostering the tradition of friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of Quang Binh province was established in April 2017, serving as a bridge for former volunteer soldiers and experts who helped the Cambodian revolution in the period 1979-1989 and Cambodian people living in Quang Binh province to meet, exchange, recall memories of the difficult and fierce years in the process of fulfilling noble international duties and helping each other in life.
According to statistics, in the period 1979-1989, Quang Binh had nearly 4,000 volunteers and experts to help the Cambodian revolution, among them were thousands of wounded and sick soldiers and over 700 martyrs who sacrificed their lives while on duty in Cambodia. In the province, there are currently 8 Cambodian families and over 50 people of the second and third generation.
Over the years, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of Quang Binh province has had many rich and diverse activities. The Association regularly organizes commemorative meetings on major events, such as: Victory Day of the Southwestern Border War with the Cambodian army and people to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime, bringing about the revival of the country and people of Cambodia; the day the two countries officially established diplomatic relations on June 24, 1967 and especially the traditional Cambodian New Year from April 14-16 every year.
Along with that, the association organized visits, gave gifts, and expressed gratitude to the families of martyrs, seriously wounded soldiers, and Cambodian families currently living in Quang Binh province.
In 2024, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations supported the construction of a house for a Cambodian family in Hoa Thuy commune (Le Thuy). In 2025, the association continued to start construction of 2 gratitude houses for members with housing difficulties.
On this occasion, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of the province wished the Cambodian traditional New Year; expressed gratitude to the families of martyrs and seriously wounded soldiers and presented gifts to Cambodian families living in the province...
