The female student shared that, like many other freshmen entering university, she applied the same learning method as in high school, which is to take notes of what the lecturer taught and then memorize it at home.
After a short time of applying this method, Thien Huong realized its weakness. In terms of effectiveness, this way of studying only helped her achieve a maximum score of 7. For Huong, this score could not help her achieve her goal of graduating early. Therefore, the talented girl changed her strategy. During class, she would proactively ask the lecturer and actively speak up to increase her component score.

“I have a detailed plan for my life and career, and the first step is to enter university, and the second step is to graduate early. This will help me enter the labor market and reach further goals sooner,” Thien Huong confidently shared.
Learning about Huong’s study time during her university years, many people will be surprised. While other students study 7-8 subjects per semester, Thien Huong boldly registered for 10-12 subjects per semester. In addition, the female student also registered for the summer semester to speed up her progress.
She also applies many effective learning methods such as mindmap, Cornell Notes (effective note-taking method), Pomodoro (time management technique) to optimize knowledge acquisition.

During her studies, Huong paid special attention to understanding the lessons and the nature of knowledge instead of memorizing them mechanically. She always tried to connect theory with practice to remember and apply it as best as possible.
“For example, when learning about the law of quantity and quality in Philosophy, I think of it as the process of reviewing for university entrance exams. You can’t study for just a day or two and expect immediate results, but if you accumulate knowledge regularly every day, at some point, a qualitative change will occur – you will truly understand deeply and be able to apply that knowledge,” Huong shared.

Thien Huong's acceleration process has a lot of contribution from her friends. Huong and other friends formed a group to study and support each other. Regular exchanges with classmates help the female student understand faster and remember longer.
Besides understanding the lesson, Huong emphasized the importance of understanding herself - a factor that helps her build the most effective learning and self-development strategy.
“I asked myself: What time of day do I study best? Do I absorb knowledge better through reading, listening to lectures or group discussions? What is my learning goal – just to pass the course or to aim for a scholarship or study abroad opportunity?”
She realized that she learned best in the morning, absorbed quickly through summarizing main ideas and teaching others, so she adjusted her learning method to this method. Determining clear goals also helped her have strong motivation to study. For Huong, each subject is not only for getting points but also a foundation to help her develop her future career.
