Accordingly, 3,803 candidates nationwide won prizes, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of candidates (in the 2023-2024 school year, the number of candidates was 5,812, with 3,351 candidates winning prizes).

Leaders of the Quality Management Department (Ministry of Education and Training) shared that the results of the grading and ranking show that the number of students winning prizes this year is evenly distributed across most localities. Some mountainous and border areas also have students achieving the highest rankings, for example, Dien Bien province has a candidate who won first prize in biology…

The localities with the highest number of award-winning contestants still belong to provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Nam Dinh , Bac Ninh…

The exam was held on December 25-26, 2024. A total of 6,482 candidates nationwide participated, an increase of 663 compared to the previous academic year, taking the exam at 68 examination centers across 13 subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese. This was also the first year that Japanese was included in the national excellent student competition.

According to the current regulations for the national-level excellent student competition, the total number of awards from honorable mention upwards shall not exceed 60% of the number of participating students; the total number of first, second, and third prizes shall not exceed 60% of the total number of awards; and the number of first prizes shall not exceed 5% of the total number of awards.

Within 15 days of the results being announced, candidates have the right to request a review of their exam papers. The Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, issues certificates to winning students, while other students receive certificates of participation.

According to the plan, in March, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize the selection exam for high school students to join the national teams participating in regional and international Olympiads in 2025, for the subjects of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science.

Notably, for the first time this year's national high school gifted student selection exam, the Ministry of Education and Training is applying a method of transporting exam papers through the Government Cipher Committee's system nationwide. This method involves transporting exam papers via the encrypted and secure transmission system of the Government Cipher Committee.

The Ministry of Education and Training believes that the smooth transportation of exam papers and the organization of the exams are important prerequisites for implementing the method of transporting exam papers through the Government Cipher Committee's system for the high school graduation exam from 2025 and the national high school student selection exams in subsequent years.
