NCA conducted a survey of nearly 5,000 units and organizations in Vietnam. The results showed that: 85.11% of units equipped with anti-virus software to protect computers and servers; 75.68% of units invested in firewall solutions and 64.13% had data backup and recovery solutions. These are all basic and necessary solutions according to the instructions of the authorities.
Among the surveyed units, 75.68% of organizations provide internal cybersecurity awareness training at least once a year. In addition, 24.32% of units do not have any training courses.
Some advanced technology solutions have begun to be widely used: centralized network security solutions are of interest to 47.11% of agencies and businesses; network security intelligence services are used by 35.26% of units.
In addition, 64.13% of organizations said they had proactively assessed and issued information security levels for their systems according to instructions.
Thus, agencies and enterprises in Vietnam have improved their awareness of cyber security, paid more attention to investing in products and technology solutions, actively trained awareness and deployed, and standardized processes to ensure cyber security.
However, in 2024, many cyber attacks occurred, targeting large businesses, organizations, and medical and educational facilities... Specifically: more than 659,000 attacks occurred with 46.15% of Vietnamese agencies and businesses having been attacked at least once a year, of which 6.77% were frequently attacked.
Targeted attacks - APT, espionage attacks and data encryption attacks are 3 common forms of cyber attacks. Of these, APT attacks are the main ones with 26.14% being attacks using spyware.
It is known that in addition to information and data theft, units also face the threat of data encryption and ransomware. Specifically: 14.59% of agencies and businesses said they were attacked by ransomware this year.
NCA recommends: organizations need to regularly review system vulnerabilities and update security patches promptly.
